Rejected, Abused, I Fall for the Forbidden Alpha (by Riley Scott) novel Chapter 219

Chapter 219

Did he know more about this Marissa girl than he was letting on?

She didn’t like the thought of that.

“You’re right. It just doesn’t sit well with me,” Damien exhaled, not seeing the expression on her face.

“She’s a white wolf,” Alice said softly, “why is she an omega? Where did she come from?” she tried to press for. more information.

After all, Marissa had come out of nowhere. None of the omegas she’d questioned knew anything about her. There was no information on her in the employee database either, which was not usual at all.

“Her wolf is not strong enough to make her anything more than an omega,” Damien said nonchalantly as though the questions weren’t unusual, “and she came from my sister’s pack.”

His sister’s pack? Alice knew all about his sister, Raven and his sudden discovery of her not that long ago. For Marissa to suddenly appear here though, there was a story to that. One that Damien was deliberately not divulging to her. She hadn’t missed the shifty look in his eyes as he’d responded to her questions or the way he’d given her the bare minimum of information.

She stored the small amount of information away. She had something to go on now, at least.

“Anyway, I should get back to it.”

“Where is Marissa now? I’m worried she might….” Alice began, her voice shaking slightly.

“Locked up just like any other omega would have been. Don’t worry, she’s heavily guarded. She won’t pose any threat anymore.”

“Maybe she should be sent to another pack,” Alice dared to push her luck, batting her eyes at Damien, “I don’t trust her now. If she’s willing to attack somebody like me, then what will happen if she tries to attack somebody else that’s not so lucky? She could kill someone. Not everybody is as strong as me Damien,” she reminded him smugly.

Honestly, the further away this bitch was, the more comfortable Alice would be.

Not that this slut posed any serious competition, but why make things harder on herself? She was determined to be the only one who caught Damien’s attention and his heart.

Damien exhaled slowly, an inscrutable expression on his face.

He looked as though he was trying to carefully weigh his words.

“Unfortunately, that’s not an option right now. I’ll consider it,” he added, but without any conviction.

He was lying right to her face.

What the fuck? She tried not to stare at him. She had been so sure he would agree to it. That he would put her as the first priority and her safety. Instead, he’d rejected her idea, and it pissed her off. She wasn’t used to him being so against her suggestions. She forced herself to remain composed instead of letting him see how angry she was.

“I understand,” she said softly.

The hell she did but something told her if she continued to push, she would only create conflict between her and Damien, and that was definitely not in her best interest.

“Listen, I’ll take care of this. You focus on training the warriors. I honestly don’t know what I would do without you.”

She preened. It looked as though all the tension between them this morning at the breakfast table had vanished. Her getting injured had brought out his protective side. She liked that.

“I will,” she said and he gave a nod before turning to walk away.

She watched the back of him and then slowly exhaled as he vanished from view, her gaze turning cold and calculating.

There was more to the story than Marissa simply being an omega. The way he’d looked every time he said her name, it was unsettling. Almost as though some small part of him liked her. Even his eyes had softened when he spoke. She clenched her hands into fists, the nails digging into the palms and creating small droplets of blood.

“I’m going to find out what the secret is that he’s hiding and the true identity of this Marissa,” she hissed, and when I do, I’m going to use everything in my power to make sure she leaves this pack, dead or alive.”

Nobody got between her and the positon of Luna.
