Rejected, Abused, I Fall for the Forbidden Alpha (by Riley Scott) novel Chapter 233

Chapter 233

If I killed her, then everybody else would be safe.

This was my fight. Not anyone else’s. I was finally going to make up for all my past deeds and do what I should have done all along.

My mother was toxic. Cruel. Power hungry. A lethal combination. If she rose to power, if she had somebody backing her then she wouldn’t stop until everybody she wanted was dead. Her wolf was strong, maybe stronger than mine, although if she did gain another wolf, not the one she had before, it might not be pure white like mine

was.

I stood at the boundary of the forest and began to slowly strip off my clothes, keeping a wary eye behind me for

Aaron.

“:I have to do this,” I whispered, staring into the shadows of the trees and feeling the cold air on my cheeks.

I put the clothes beside me and took a deep breath before slowly exhaling, my body beginning to tense.

There was just one more thing I had to do. One more thing before I could leave this pack and Damien behind. It was going to hurt, but it was the best thing for both of us. With me gone, Damien could finally make Alice his chosen mate instead of settling for a mate he never wanted in the first place and that he despised.

Maybe the moon goddess would be merciful and grant me a third chance but it was highly unlikely.

Maybe I was destined to be alone, and that was fine with me. Being alone meant less complications and was far safer than having to wonder if my next mate would abuse me.

Besides, there was no guarantee I would stay alive for long.

Nobody would mourn me. Maybe Raven, because she was so kindhearted but nobody else would even blink an eye at my death.

I deserved that. Hell, I deserved worse. I was just grateful that I had no children to leave motherless. That would have devastated me.

Don’t do this, Marissa. We need him, my wolf tried to argue.

I put up a block, ignoring her. I couldn’t let her persuade me to stay. It was too dangerous. Damien had made his choice and now I was making mine.

I was leaving.

I could sense my wolf’s pain as I opened my mouth, sense her trying desperately to force the block down, to try and convince me to stop what I was about to do.

But it was too late.

“I, Marissa Sinclair, reject you Damien Shadow of the Shadow Pack, as my mate,” I breathed.

I felt a stinging sensation and doubled over, my breathing heavy as the mate bond severed on my side. Damien would feel it and know instantly what I had done. Now all that was left would be for him to accept and the mate bond would be gone completely. He’d be free. It’s what he wanted, wasn’t it?

I would no longer be an inconvenience he was forced to entertain.

I slowly shifted, stretching out my muscles as I took on wolf form. It had been too long since I had gone for a run or had the freedom to merely go and explore.

I grabbed my clothes and held them loosely in my mouth. I would need them once I made it to town or found somewhere to camp.

I could sense footsteps behind me, and I darted into the woods as Aaron shifted into his wolf form in a desperate attempt to force me to stay.

But I had a headstart and a white wolf that was far more agile and speedier than his. I outran him easily.

My paws thudded along the ground and I ran, faster than I ever had before, pushing myself to the limits before 1 finally crossed over the boundary line and made it to neutral territory, forcing Aaron to stop.

I tuned my back on him and slowed down, breathing easily for the first time in what felt like forever. It felt like a weight had been taken off my shoulders and now there was only myself to worry about.

Damien would be overjoyed by now, I thought as I began to slowly run, and no doubt I would feel the mate bond
