Chapter 242

Damien POV

+15 Banys

My office door burst open, and Alice came storming in, her hands clenched tightly into fists, her eyes dark with undisguised anger. I had expected this. Aaron looked shocked as he half got out of his chair to reprimand her, but I slowly shook my head. Reluctantly, he sat back down as Alice slammed the door shut and then stalked over to the desk, putting both hands on it and staring at me with darkened eyes.

“Are you insane bringing that… that slut back?” she spluttered. “Do you have any idea how dangerous she is? I didn’t think you could be this stupid, Damien,” she yelled, slamming her hands on the desk for emphasis.

I was calm, and that just made her even angrier.

“Not only did I find out that you brought that little bitch back,” she hissed, “but you put her in a guest room instead of the omega quarters! She should be back in that dungeon, Damien,” she barked, “facing the

consequences of her actions. Hell,” she sneered, “she should have been left to fend for herself in the forest and if she was killed by rogues she would have deserved it.”

Don’t kill her. Not yet. You still have to find out what she’s up to, and if you rip her apart, you won’t know what’s coming. Keep cool Damien.

But the way she was speaking about my mate? It made me want to rip her apart with my bare hands and scatter her body in the forest for the other animals to feast on.

“One, I brought Marissa back because nobody leaves this pack and thinks they can get away from their actions,” I said as Alice stared at me, “two, she’s in a guest room because she’s injured and recovering from her ordeal but most importantly,” I stared at her trying not to smirk, “there are surveillance cameras in that wing which means she won’t be able to try anything without being seen.”

Alice flung herself into the nearest chair and glared at me.

“She’s a loose cannon, Damien. You don’t know what she’s capable of. What if she tries to harm me again?” she whimpered, tears shimmering in her eyes. “You said you would protect me.”

“I am,” I said evenly, “by making sure she’s under surveillance. This way if she does try something,” my voice went dark, “you’ll have undisputable proof.”

She didn’t like that. She turned to Aaron instead to plead her case.

“Aaron, you can’t let Damien do this. He’s lost his mind! This bitch has him under her spell,” she exclaimed, “and he’s not thinking straight. We have to consider the safety of the other pack members.”

Aaron’s jaw ticked.

“I have no authority over Damien’s decision, Alice. I might be his Beta now, but I can’t overrule him.”

“But you’re friends,” she shot back, “and Damien listens to you!”

“Enough, Alice,” I sighed, “my decision is made. Stay away from Marissa for your own sake while I decide what to do with her. I understand you’re afraid, but I do have your back. For now, go and find something else to do, I have something important to discuss with Aaron.”

“You’re going to regret this,” she snarled, “if Marissa had any sense she would have stayed in a coma instead of waking up and ruining everything. She’s no good, Damien, and you’re going to realize that. I just hope it’s not before it’s too late,” she finished, standing up and stomping to the door.
