Rejected, Abused, I Fall for the Forbidden Alpha (by Riley Scott) novel Chapter 251

Chapter 251

“Spare me,” she scoffed, “your act is despicable. I hope MaryAnne tortures you before she kills you. I hope you die screaming for mercy.”

Damien let out a roar and made his way towards her, but I put up a hand and stalled him.

“What else do you know?”

“MaryAnne is too strong for you to take down,” Alice giggled, sounding unhinged, her eyes going crazed, “she gave up her uterus to gain more power, and she gave up her soul to have her wolf come back. She sacrificed without a second thought, and now she’s turned to dark magic. You have no chance against her.”.

Dark magic. There were always consequences with that. I couldn’t believe what my mother had sacrificed in the name of revenge. How much she had plotted, how prepared she’d been to ensure her survival.

“She has more connections than you think,” Alice whispered, “witches who were willing to help her. Favors she called in. The clone she had made? That was genius. She knew you would eventually disappoint her,” she giggled again, “and she anticipated everything. She clawed her way back from death. She hid in plain sight. Hell, she’s not even…” she trailed off and she suddenly looked stricken as though she had almost let something important slip.

“Not even what?” I moved closer, grabbed her chin, and forced her head up, our eyes locking. “What were you going to say?” I demanded.

She laughed.

“You don’t know, do you?” she sounded pitying, “how unfortunate. I thought you might have put it together by now. I guess you really are as stupid as MaryAnne said you were. Poor Marissa,” she mocked, “so innocent and naive. You knew that Raven wasn’t your sister,” she continued to make fun of me, “but you never questioned whether you were truly MaryAnne’s daughter did you?”

I stepped back, feeling cold all over.

Silence.

My lip trembled.

“No, she has to be. I mean, I would know,” I breathed, feeling sick.

Alice tilted her head, her eyes flashing with triumph.

“Would you? MaryAnne was so willing to give up her uterus as though it were useless to her. Why do you think that is, Marissa?”

Bile rose in my throat.

“You’re lying. You’re trying to get inside my head,” I said, but my voice was hollow.

“Keep telling yourself that. I guess being ignorant is bliss, as they say. Stay oblivious if that makes you feel better, _” she said breezily, “but if she was willing to steal Raven, then why wouldn’t she do the same when it came to

you? Why didn’t she ever have more children? Why didn’t she have an heir, a boy to take over the pack?”

“Lies,” I swallowed hard.

“Enough,” Damien growled, “you think this is going to absolve your crimes? You’re trying to manipulate Marissa, and I won’t have it,” he thundered.

“Ah, the prince saving the damsel, how sweet,” Alice taunted, “you can’t protect her forever, Damien, and you

can’t prevent what’s coming.”

“I’ve heard enough,” I whispered, my heart beating painfully inside my chest. “I don’t think she has anything more to offer Damien.”

I needed to escape and get some fresh air before I vomited all over the floor.

Alice’s words had to be lies. She had to be messing with me. But there was a small voice inside my head whispering What if she’s telling the truth?

Damien’s eyes went dark. For a moment her merely stared at Alice, who began to wriggle in her seat, already knowing what was about to happen and desperately trying to prolong it.

“You fought alongside me in battles and saved countless lives,” he finally said as hope lit in her eyes, “and for that I’m going to grant you what you don’t truly deserve. A quick death.”

“No, Damien, I did all this for you,” she shrieked as his hands went to each side of her head, “You’re making a big mistake! I can still save you. I can save the pack. Just let me go!”

He twisted, and her neck broke.

She slumped forward in the chair.
