Rejected, Abused, I Fall for the Forbidden Alpha (by Riley Scott) novel Chapter 269

Chapter 269

ì slowly hung up and walked back to the grounds.

Gregory was gone. I rolled my eyes and made my way towards the packhouse when I stiffened.

The familiar scent drifted towards me.

My eyes widened.

I almost rushed towards it, my heart thumping wildly in my chest.

I needed to see this girl for myself.

I snuck around the side and spotted a woman hanging up laundry.

I moved and slowly walked towards her, not wanting to frighten her.

Her eyes slowly rose, and she stilled, a fearful look on her face.

I inhaled sharply.

She was gorgeous. Her long red hair cascaded down her back in soft curls, her green eyes reminded me of the forest, and her skin was like a porcelain doll’s. She was small, petite, and shorter than me, but I was instantly drawn to her.

My wolf began to go berserk.

The girl’s eyes widened.

“Little one, what’s your name?” I fought to keep my voice steady.

She bowed her head down.

“I’m not allowed to speak to you, please forget you even saw me,” she mumbled.

“I’m not going to hurt you,” I reached out to touch her hand, and she quickly yanked it back.

I froze.

She was afraid of me.

It stung. I would never lay hands on a woman, not ever. I had always respected women.

“I um…” I stammered, feeling foolish.

She shook her head, beginning to back away from me slowly as I watched, dumbfounded.

“Never mind, I have to go…” she stammered, almost panicked, “I can’t be seen with you. I’m sorry,” she squeaked, her face going bright red as she darted inside.

_Whoosh.

The air left my lungs.

I was puzzled. Since when was it so dangerous to be seen with a visiting guest? Were omegas not permitted to speak to important visitors? That made no sense.

Besides, she’d been genuinely fearful. Almost panicked.

“I didn’t even get her name,” I mumbled in disappointment.

But I wouldn’t forget her face in a hurry. I had memorized everything, from the redness of her hair to the rute little freckles that littered her nose.

She was perfect.

I stared off into the distance. I knew instantly that this girl was going to change things. I doubted Alpha Jacob would willingly allow her to leave with me.

Hell I wasn’t even sure if this girl knew what I was or if she had felt it.

If she had she hadn’t given any signs.

How was that possible? I had sensed her wolf, but it hadn’t been particularly strong.

It didn’t matter. I was determined to find her again. Determined to prove I wasn’t just somebody who didn’t acknowledge her importance to me.

I wanted her.

She was going to be mine.

I wouldn’t let anybody else so much as lay a finger on her. She was mine to protect now, mine to cherish.

I ran a hand through my hair in frustration.

“Shit, Damien’s going to be pissed if I screw things up here,” I muttered.

But I couldn’t walk away. Not now.

Not when my dream was finally going to become true. My heart skipped a beat at the images flooding my mind.
