“How do you feel? Does your head hurt? Oh goodness, you look so…” she trailed off.

“Injured?” I asked wryly, and she gave a nervous giggle.

“I was going to say pale. Let’s get some real food into you.”

She practically dragged me inside. Aaron followed slowly behind.

We sat at the dining table. Damien sauntered in and joined us, smacking Aaron lightly on the back of his head.

“That’s for being an idiot. Refusing mine and Marissa’s help and barely letting my omegas take you things. I swear,” his voice was threatening, “you need to learn to ask for help. Next time, I’m going to tie you down if I have to.”

I laughed.

Aaron flushed.

Food was put in front of us, and I inhaled, my mouth salivating.

I dug in eagerly.

“Any updates?” Aaron demanded, slowly eating, his eyes narrowed.

Damien sighed.

“Nothing. I’m going to personally organize more surveillance cameras around the grounds. Patrol noticed nothing out of the ordinary. I hate to say it, but I’m certain it was an inside job. Somebody with a grudge against you or her.”

I blanched.

“Who would hate me that much?”

“We have a few suspects but nothing foolproof. Without evidence, and without your version of events, our hands are regrettably tied.”

Marissa sounded frustrated. She sent me an apologetic look.

“I’m not mad at you. This isn’t your fault, and I know you can’t remember. I’m angry this happened in the first place.”

I nodded. Her eyes dropped, and she gasped, putting a hand to her mouth.

“Oh, my god. You marked each other, it’s about time,” she beamed.

Aaron’s face went moody. He looked slightly ashamed.

“I think so too,” I said, forgiving him and causing Aaron’s face to brighten,. “I’ve realized how deep my feelings for Aaron are, and this is just the next step in our relationship.”

“When’s the wedding?” Marissa asked excitedly.

Aaron choked on his food.

“I think we might want to wait a little while. I’m not in a hurry,” I shot a pointed look at Aaron, “but eventually I would like a ceremony.”
