Chapter 15
I never would have guessed that Marco would terminate his adoptive relationship with Grandpa. I looked up at him and saw my own shocked image reflected in his eyes.
On the other hand, Marco seemed to be amused by my reaction. He gently pinched my cheek like he always did in the past
“Wait.”
My voice was colored with disbelief as I pushed his hand away. “Are you being serious? Do you understand the consequences of your decision?”
Marco leisurely retracted his hand before he answered, “Of course. I’m no longer the successor of the Scapuzzi family. I’m simply one of Mr. Scapuzzi’s subordinates.”

He held my hand gently. When he spoke again, his voice was colored with determination, as if he were making a promise to

Marco’s words sent me back in time to when we met for the first time. He was just a young beggar then, while I stuck close to Mom and played around with her.
I had carelessly thrown a pastry that I didn’t like at him, which prompted him to follow our car all the way back home. In the end, I took him under my wing and trained him to become my butler. As a result, he also became my most useful weapon.
When Mom disappeared, Grandpa needed a new successor. He had ultimately selected Marco, which in turn made him my
