Chapter 16
After we finished our coffees, neither Marco nor I brought up what we discussed before.
With Marco by my side, I discreetly returned to Angeloria. I had three goals that I wanted to accomplish-take charge of the Scapuzzi family, take back The Rosas, and take revenge on those who wronged me.
The Scapuzzis had many businesses within the country. As the newly appointed successor, I had no choice but to spend a large chunk of my time taking care of the businesses.
It didn’t take long before news of the Scapuzzi family’s successor returning to the country spread like wildfire. Many people sent all sorts of invitations, wanting to connect with the Scapuzzis. Among them was Antonia, who sent an invitation for her engagement banquet.
She didn’t know that I was the new successor of the Scapuzzi family and tried to use all sorts of channels to get into contact
with Marco.
When I found out what she was up to, I secretly had someone sell her information regarding Marco’s whereabouts for three million dollars.
Marco didn’t get angry when he discovered what I had done. Instead, he wrapped his hands around my waist and drew me into his embrace, saying, “Aren’t you going to split some of the money with me after selling me out for such a high price, Gina?”
His breath fanned across my ear, making it tingle slightly. I could also feel my heart throbbing in my chest.
“Of course.”
I coughed lightly before pushing him away. I then wrote him a check that was worth 1.5 million dollars. “Will half of the amount suffice?”
“How generous of you.”
Marco was grinning as he reached out his hand. But right before he touched the check, he grabbed my hand and tugged met forward before suddenly turning the corner.
He pressed a featherlight kiss to my lips before letting out a laugh.
“I’m satisfied with this reward.”
My face was burning, and my heart was racing. “Why… Why would you…”
Marco’s eyes were glimmering with mirth. He gently caressed my face with his hand and said, “Your face is so hot, Gina.”
He leaned down and used his superior height and size to cage me within his arms. He then brushed his fingertips across my lips. “Do you have any idea how adorable you look right now? It makes me want to ask for even more rewards.”
He moved his face closer to mine as he spoke, closing the distance between us until I could feel his breath fanning across my
face.
However, right before he kissed me again, I pushed him away and frantically ran toward the door.
When I heard Marco chuckling behind me, I increased my pace. I ran all the way to the parking lot before I finally slowed down. I leaned against the car door and subconsciously brushed my fingers across my lips.
I never would have thought that a cold and aloof man like him would use such shameless tactics on me. Although he never brought up the topic of wanting to marry me again, he had openly started to pursue me.
Marco had also taken good care of me in the past, but he had done it as my uncle, so he had carried himself with a certain degree of seriousness. Now that he was no longer my uncle, he didn’t bother hiding his favoritism and attention toward me.
