Rejected Me Once Never Fool Me Twice (Watt) novel Chapter 11

Chapter 11

A month Later

Serene’s P.O.V

I give up.

I can feel life leaving my body.

I have been tortured for four weeks-four long, agonizing weeks. I have barely survived without food or water.

My skin clings to my bones; you can literally see my skeleton.

Each time I lose weight, the chains shrink to adjust to my size. I think a spell was cast on them.

Every day, after being tortured and after my desperate pleas for freedom, the pack doctor comes to check on me. He cleans my wounds and injects something into my body to speed up the healing process.

The moment I recover, a new set of female warriors come to play with me.

Not once did I see Zander. Not once did I see my mother or father.

But Kaden comes.

Not to torture me.

Not to mock me.

He just stands guard.

1

At first, I begged him to release me-to at least bring me food or water. But he ignored my existence.

So, after a week, I stopped asking.

Now, as I feel the last traces of life slipping away, I am both happy and sad.

Happy, because at least this misery will finally end.

Sad, because I will never see my mother or Marcus again.

Dots cloud my vision, and I smile weakly.

“Save my soul, Moon Goddess,” I whisper a final prayer as my vision turns black.

Suddenly, voices echo toward my dungeon.

The door bursts open.

With what little strength I have left, I lift my head, but my vision is too blurry to make out anyone.

I am fading.

“Fuck! Get the Alpha here now! Zack, unlock her chains-NOW!” a voice I vaguely recognize shouts.

The last thing I feel is the weight of the chains being lifted from my body.

Then, everything goes dark.

Zander’s POV

“Alpha Zander. There’s a problem with the rogue dungeon. We think she’s dead.” Zack mind-links me.

I shoot to my feet, my heart pounding. My soul leaves my body at those words.

“What do you mean, she’s dead? She was fine this morning! The pack doctor said she would be fine!” I growl through the link.

‘Atlas, can you feel Averia?’ I ask my wolf, my voice shaky.

‘Yes… but it’s faint. I think we’re losing mate. Please, save mate,’ Atlas whimpers.

“We were about to continue her torture when we found her barely breathing. What should we do, Alpha?” Zack asks.

“Take her to the fucking pack hospital! I’ll meet you there!” I growl before cutting off the link.

I rush to my car, dialing her father’s number as I drive. 2

When he finally picks up, I tell him everything. He is on his way-with his wife and that insufferable human boy. 2

The moment I reach the hospital, I push past Zack and his mate, Zelta, ignoring their startled expressions as I storm into the emergency room.

No one dares stop me.

I am the Alpha.

I burst through the door-then freeze.

Serene lies on the hospital bed, looking lifeless.

I try to hold myself together, but I can’t.

Atlas is desperate to break free.

“Alpha,” the doctor says cautiously.

“What is wrong with her?” I demand.

“She has lost a dangerous amount of nutrients. Her sugar levels are critically low. Severe malnutrition, extreme dehydration… Alpha, we are lucky she is still alive. But even then, she is barely holding on,” he says, looking at Averia with something that almost resembles pity. 1

“Leave,” I growl, low and threatening.

I need to be closer to her.

Atlas needs to be closer to her.

“Yes, Alpha,” the doctor murmurs before walking out.

I step closer, and my chest tightens.

She is unrecognizable.

Fuck.

Atlas takes control, though I do not give him full power.

‘Mate! Mate is dying. She is dying because of us! I need to be near her-I need to heal her!’ he whimpers.

‘We can’t, Atlas. Remember…. You are married to Sansa! We love Crystal. Our wife and daughter are dying right before our eyes and we can’t do anything. She is the reason! She is the reason we lost our best friend!’ I snap.

Atlas is silent for a moment. Then, he speaks.

‘No. We hurt her first. We broke mate. I don’t want to hurt my mate again. Averia will never love me now. I need mate. We need to rectify our mistakes’ His growl is laced with pain.

‘She is the enemy. She needs to pay for her sins. Our daughter is a freak, an abomination d because of her. Crystal almost died because of her. Just because they look the same doesn’t mean they are the same!’ I snarl.

Atlas ignores me.

(

He steps closer, his movements slow, controlled.

Serene is hooked up to machines, her chest rising and falling in shallow, fragile breaths.

Gently, he tucks a stray strand of hair behind her ear, then presses a soft kiss to her forehead.

Suddenly, the door bursts open, and I snap back into control.

“Get out of here, you monster! You killed my daughter! You took my youngest daughter, and now you want to take away my eldest daughter! I don’t care if you are the Alpha-leave!” Mrs. Gun screams at me.

Atlas is not happy.

Not at her tone-but at the request she is making.

“Calm down. He is the Alpha, remember?” Kaden tries to reason with her.

“I don’t care!” she snaps, shoving her son aside. “Even you-get out. Let Marcus in. You rejected sister! You didn’t even hear her full story Sometimes, I regret ever calling you my son!.”

Her words cut deeper than I expect.

That stupid human boy, Marcus, steps forward and gently pulls her into his arms, comforting her.

“Please leave before we involve the police,” he says.

It takes everything in me not to snap his neck.
