Rejected Me Once Never Fool Me Twice (Watt) novel Chapter 12

Chapter 12

Light.

Darkness.

Light.

Darkness.

Light.

Darkness.

That is all I have been seeing. I think I may have died and become stuck between the living and the dead.

I don’t want to be alive anymore. I may be a fighter, but now I am so tired of fighting.

My body is exhausted. I just want to leave. Nobody will miss me-maybe only Mom and Marcus because they are the only family I have left.

There’s that beeping sound again, and then the light comes.

My eyelids feel heavy, but I fight to open them. After many tries, I finally manage to do so.

I see a pair of brown eyes, followed by the famous British nose of Marcus.

“Oh, darling! Thank God you’re finally awake. I thought I’d lose you.” Mama engulfs me in a tight hug.

“Hi, Mom,” I whisper, my throat dry.

Sensing this, Marcus hands me a bottle of water, which I gulp down in one go.

“What… what happened?” I ask.

“The doctor said you almost died from dehydration and starvation. I’m so sorry I couldn’t protect you, my daughter,” Mama cries, caressing my cheek.

“Don’t cry, Mama. I’ll be fine. How are you?” I ask, and she starts telling me everything that happened while I

was unconscious.

Apparently, I’ve been out for three weeks.

I was in an induced coma, which explains why I kept falling in and out of consciousness.

The Alpha has been here, but Mama always sends him away, threatening to leave the pack with me.

Mama is very bold for that.

The doctor comes to check on me and says my wolf is healing me well-I can go home today.

‘Hey, Serene.’

‘Hey, girl. I’m sorry I couldn’t heal you properly,’ she says sadly.

‘Don’t worry, it’s not your fault. How are you feeling?”

‘Miraculously stronger. I think Atlas is secretly projecting his strength to me,’ she says.

‘Wait, what? You can connect with him?’ I ask.

‘Yes. He’s been using your weakness to get closer to me, but I don’t allow it. I won’t be weak for him anymore,’ she growls, and I smile.

That’s my girl.

‘Okay, we’ll be fine. I promise,’ I tell her, and she retreats into my mind.

I finish changing into the white shirt and joggers Marcus bought for me a while ago.

I have lost a ton of weight, and I don’t like it. Mama promises to feed me until I’m overweight.

“I had Kenna prepare your old bedroom for you. You’ll be staying there until you’re fully recovered,” Mama says, gathering my things.

Before I can respond, the door opens, revealing my new monster.

“No, she won’t be staying with you. She will be staying at the pack house where I can keep an eye on her. She is still my prisoner,” Alpha Zander declares.

“Over my dead body will I let you keep my daughter again! I don’t care whether you’re the Alpha or not. She is coming with me, and that is final,” Mama challenges.

“Yeah! Go, Mrs. Gun!” Marcus cheers her on.

“Don’t forget who you’re speaking to. I am your Alpha, and I demand your unconditional respect. If you disobey me one more time, you will be punished,” he says in his Alpha voice, but Mama doesn’t back down.

“I don’t care! You could be the Moon Goddess herself, or even part of the High Council-I am not letting you take my daughter away from me,” Mama says.

I see Zander’s eyes glow, and so do my mom’s.

Oh no. This will turn ugly.

“Stop this! I’ll go with you, Alpha, but on one condition,” I say.

“And what is that, little mate?” he growls.

“Stop calling me that. My mom and Marcus have to stay with me,” I demand.

“No,” he disagrees.

“Then I’ll be staying with my mom,” I say, crossing my arms.

He growls in frustration. “Okay, fine,” he agrees but steps closer, whispering,

“You’ll regret this.”

A shiver runs down my spine.

Marcus drives us to the pack house while Zander follows behind.

We step out of the car, and I freeze as the memories hit me.

This is the place where my innocence was taken away.

“You are stronger. The two of you are stronger than your past,” Marcus whispers, wrapping his arms around me.

I lean into his embrace and sigh. I can do this. I am stronger than my past.

“I love you”
