Rejected Me Once Never Fool Me Twice (Watt) novel Chapter 15

Chapter 15

People whisper.

They stare.

Even after the Alphas and Betas have broken up the fight, their eyes remain fixed on me-as if I was the one on the floor, bleeding.

Zander has been dragged into an empty room.

Mark? Taken to the pack clinic.

Yeah, the injuries are that bad. Zander didn’t just fight him-he brutalized him. He kept slamming Mark’s head against the floor like a madman.

A maid approaches, her face laced with concern. “Are you okay, Luna?”

Luna.

I hate that word.

“Yeah… yeah, I’m fine.” My voice is barely above a whisper. “Have you seen my mom?”

“Yes, Luna. She’s with the Alpha, along with your -”

I cut her off with a tight-lipped smile. “Thank you.”

Without another word, I turn and walk toward the room where Zander was taken.

I brace myself for the worst as I push open the door.

“What the fuck are you doing here? Leave!”

Zander’s voice is sharp, venomous. His eyes are wild, still carrying the remnants of Atlas’ rage.

“And why is that?” I challenge, stepping fully into the room. “You just caused a huge commotion out there!”

I glance around, my heart clenching when my gaze lands on my mother.

She’s standing beside my brother.

I give her a small smile, but my eyes quickly flick away when they meet kaden’s.

Zander scoffs. “I caused a commotion? I’m not the one whoring myself around, kissing every man I see!”

His words slice through me.

“Stop fucking calling me names!” I snap, my fury rising. “And besides, you are neither my husband nor my

mate! I can do whatever I want with my body! I don’t belong to you or anyone! You are married to my sister and I don’t understand why you keep forgetting that! She is right upstairs!”

His eyes darken.

“Really?”

He takes a slow, threatening step toward me.

1 instinctively back up, my spine pressing against the door.

No escape.

“Have you forgotten what happened the last time you disobeyed me?” he growls. “Or do you need a reminder?”

Before I can react, a voice booms from behind me.

“You stay away from my daughter, Alpha Zander!”

It was my mom.

I freeze.

She steps forward, her face set in an expression I haven’t seen before.

“I have been quiet all this time, watching you hurt my daughter because you are my alpha. I thought my husband’s demise, along Crystal and your demise was her fault.” She clenches her fists. “But I see the truth now. You are the cause of everything. My husband died because of you. And I will not let my daughter die because of you. If you weren’t so selfish, all this wouldn’t have happened! She has everything right to love again because you rejected her! For her fucking own sister. I am taking her away. Today!”

My mouth falls open.

Kenna has a proud smile on her face.

Zander growls lowly. “Stay out of this Mrs. Gun. I have the utmost respect for you, but this is between my mate and me. She needs to realize her place.”

My mother doesn’t’t back down.

“I have already taken this case to the council,” she says firmly. “They will decide if she stays and becomes Luna. You cannot hold someone against their will.”

She steps toward Zander and shoves him away from me.

Zander’s entire body stiffens. His eyes flash yellow.

Atlas is surfacing.

“You dare to challenge my orders?!” Zander’s voice is no longer his own-it’s deeper, monstrous.

“I would never challenge you, Lord Atlas,” my mother says, bowing her head in submission. “But I will protect my daughter. Even if it means Crystal, my other daughter is dying because of her sins”

Atlas lets out a vicious snarl.

My pulse quickens.

“Calm down, Atlas,” I say carefully, stepping closer to him. “I’m not going anywhere. Not until the council

makes their decision.”

His glowing eyes soften slightly at my words.

I reach out gently, placing a hand on his arm.

But before I can pull away, he yanks me into his chest.

He buries his face in my hair, inhaling deeply.

“Mine,” he mutters possessively.

I don’t move.

We stay like that for a long time.

The party outside fades into silence.

When Zander finally releases me, his breathing is steady again. His eyes—normal.

I take a step back.

“I’m making this clear-me staying does not mean I want a second chance with you,” I murmur. “You destroyed me, Zander. And I don’t think I will ever forgive you. I also have a request. I wish to see my sister and your daughter”

His jaw clenches.

“Same here,” he says coldly. “I can’t give you that permission. The room upstairs is out of boundaries”

His words don’t hurt.

Not anymore.

I simply smile.

And walk away.

A Week Later

I barely see Zander.

He’s been busy with rogue attacks and council meetings and also staying upstairs. I usually hear a child’s giggle and crashes, then later the pack doctor comes.

I really want my curiosity to get the best of me but I want to rest his boundaries.

So I am practically alone or with my mom and Kenna. I am teaching her how to sew clothes and make some designs.

Which means I finally have time to breathe.

Time to talk to Marcus.

Time to do damage control in the media.

Averia is completely healed now. She’s been going on morning runs with Mom and Faye, a female warrior from the pack. Training with them has made me stronger.

And today-Kenna had her baby.

A little girl.

Rya Crystal Gun.

I’m not upset that they named her after my sister.

After all, she is our sister.

Marcus sent a small half-moon necklace I had customized for Rya. Now, I’m heading to see her for the first time.

When my car stops in front of Kaden’s house, my jaw nearly drops.

A glass mansion sits atop the hill of the pack’s apex, overlooking everything.

What the fuck?

How much does Zander pay my brother for him to afford something like this?

Shaking my head, I ring the doorbell.
