Julian thought Amelia would be touched, but when he saw her cold, disgusted expression, his heart felt like it had been shredded.

Amelia… do you still hate me that much?

“Mom, the vineyard was a gift! You really want me to just hand it over? Why don’t you just kick me out and send me back to that dumpy village!” Sophia wailed.

Eudora hurried to comfort her, snapping at Julian: “Julian! What are you doing? We’re a family! Why are you talking about lawsuits?”

If a Bennett actually sued the family, they’d be the laughingstock of the city. Their reputation would never

recover.

“If you don’t want a lawsuit, then sign the papers. I’m drafting the contract right now.”

Julian didn’t give them a chance to argue. He turned and headed for the study.

A few minutes later, he came back with copies for everyone.

“Check the terms. If it looks good, Amelia and Sophia sign, and the transfer is immediate.”

Sophia was shaking as the paper was put in front of her. She didn’t take it. Instead, she dropped to her knees in front of Amelia.

“Amelia, you’re the real daughter. I’m nothing compared to you. But that vineyard is the only thing I have from Mom and Dad. Please, have a heart. Let me keep it.”

Sophia started groveling, hitting her forehead against the floor. Her skin turned red instantly, and a bit of blood started to bead.

It was a pathetic, heart–wrenching performance. Most people would have folded.

Amelia just sipped her wine, watching the show. “I remember you have a few other boutiques and shops in your name, right? Maybe we should audit those too and see which ones I want.”

Sophia flinched, staring at her in disbelief.

She wants everything?!

“Amelia, don’t be so heartless! Fine, I’ll have your father give you a small company, but leave Sophia’s vineyard alone! Can’t you just be the bigger person?”

Seeing her “precious” daughter bleeding on the floor, Eudora’s hatred for Amelia flared up again.

If the DNA test hadn’t proven it, she’d never believe this “monster” was her own child.

“Mom, you said if I came back, I got the vineyard. I have the receipts.”

Amelia pulled out her phone and hit play on the recording.

“You… you recorded me?! You really are a piece of work!” Eudora shrieked.

“Enough! It’s just a vineyard! Sign the damn thing. I’ll buy Sophia a better mall next week.”

William slammed the table. As far as he was concerned, as long as Amelia was in the house, the plan was still on. Once she was ‘dealt with,‘ Sophia could have ten vineyards.

Sophia tried to argue, but one look from William shut her up. She signed the paper with a shaking hand.

Once it was done, Amelia looked at the contract and added casually, “I heard the vineyard has some outstanding debts. Sophia, you have three days to clear the books. If I take over a bankrupt business, I’m suing you for fraud.”

Sophia turned ghostly white. Amelia knew the place was in the red. She did this to trap me!

Those debts were nearly two hundred million. She’d have to sell every shop she owned to cover it.

Plus, once Amelia tried to register the transfer, she’d find out about the mortgage. Sophia felt her chest tightening. She couldn’t breathe.

She let out a gasp and collapsed onto the floor, out cold.

“Sophia! Someone call 911!”

The Bennetts swarmed her, lifting her onto the sofa, slapping her face and panicking.

Julian stood by Amelia, whispering, “Another fake faint. She never gets tired of it, does she?”

Amelia actually smiled. “Actually, this one’s real.”

The sheer weight of the debt had finally broken Sophia. She was truly unconscious.

Julian blinked. Wait, she actually fainted?

Good. If she died, it’d be doing the world a favor.
