Julian realized something was wrong too. He hurried over to Alexander. “Have you seen Amelia? I just checked her room, and she’s not there.”

The Bennett estate was big, but a girl doesn’t just vanish into thin air.

“Split up. Find her before something happens.”

Alexander realized Silas was missing too. He tried to stay calm as he sent Julian to check the other wing.

Lucas, who had clearly had too much wine, stumbled over and blocked Alexander’s path. “Who cares about her? I saw her go into Dad’s study with Silas. She’s probably trying to secure her future.”

Alexander shoved Lucas aside and sprinted for the stairs.

Sophia saw him and panicked. She couldn’t let Alexander ruin Silas’s ‘fun‘!

“Alex! Where are you going? Mom wants you to go talk to Piper Harrington. She’s trying to set you guys up!”

“Get out of my way!”

Alexander’s face was dark, his voice low and dangerous.

If they weren’t in public, he’d have probably slapped the “sister” right out of her.

Sophia knew that, so she played it even bolder. “Why are you so mean to me lately? You’re going to the study for Amelia, aren’t you? She’s probably in bed with Silas by now.”

“I said move!” Alexander’s fists clenched, his eyes turning lethal.

Sophia had never seen him look so terrifying; she instinctively backed away.

Just then, a voice rang out from the foyer. “I hope I’m not late! Happy birthday, Eudora!”

Vanessa Sterling and Chloe walked in, draped in diamonds and looking like they’d spent all day at a spa.

Eudora forced a smile and went to greet them. “Vanessa! I’m so glad you could make it!”

“Where’s Amelia? Eleanor specifically told me to check on her.”

Vanessa scanned the crowd but couldn’t see a trace of the girl.

Eudora was about to make an excuse when a woman’s scream ripped through the house from the second floor.

“No! Stop! Please!”

Eudora froze, looking up at the ceiling in horror.

Vanessa looked surprised, but her eyes were sharp. She knew a setup when she heard one.

I thought I’d be teaming up with Sophia to get rid of Amelia, but it looks like the Bennetts are doing it themselves. Hilarious.

“Amelia went up there with Silas Harrington. Someone needs to check on them!”

Sophia shouted it out, her voice full of ‘concern‘ but her eyes gleaming with excitement.

The maids took the hint. They sprinted for the stairs, shouting, “Check on Miss Amelia! Something’s wrong!”

Alexander’s heart dropped. He shoved Sophia aside and ran for the second floor.

Amelia, please be okay!

Sophia hit the floor hard, spilling red wine all over her white dress, but she didn’t care.

Amelia is ruined! Silas has finally done it!

“Silas is here? And he’s upstairs with Amelia? Oh, this is going to be a disaster.”

Vanessa smirked. She’d arrived just in time for the main event.

“Silas can’t keep his hands off women. That sound… well, we all know what’s happening.”

“Amelia doing that at her own mother’s birthday party? Talk about trashy.”

“Guess the Sterling fiancé spot is going to be vacant again soon.”

The guests were all staring at the second floor, some horrified, some thrilled.

“What are you all looking at? Is there a show I’m missing?”

Amelia’s voice rang out from right behind Sophia, making the girl jump out of her skin.
