Chapter 18 Alexander Didn’t Trust Her Anymore
What kind of monster had he been?
Suddenly, Alexander’s eyes shot toward the doorway.
Amelia was standing there.
Alive.
His heart slammed against his ribs.
“Amelia!”
He jumped out of bed and rushed over, grabbing her hands with desperate relief.
“Thank God you’re okay. I was wrong before–everything was my fault. From now on, I’ll protect you. Come back home, alright? Come live with the Bennett family again.”
Amelia frowned.
Slowly, she pulled her hand away like she’d touched something disgusting. Then she wiped her palm against her skirt.
“Alexander,” she said coldly, “did that chair knock your brain loose or something?”
What kind of act was this?
Now he wanted to play the caring brother?
Alexander froze.
She didn’t even recognize him as her brother anymore.
Guilt twisted inside his chest.
“Amelia… please don’t hate me.”
Her frown deepened.
“You’re insane.”
“Amelia-”
“Stop following me.”
The chill in her eyes made Alexander’s heart tremble.
He had hurt her too many times. Of course, she didn’t trust him anymore.
Even if she treated him harshly… he deserved it.
Alexander forced out a weak smile.
“Just… be careful on your way.”

After Amelia left, a quiet sob came from behind him.
“Alexander…” Sophia sniffled softly. “Did I do something to upset you?”
Alexander had been searching for somewhere to vent his anger.

And now, seeing her pitiful act again…
His fists clenched.
He wanted to rip the mask off her face.
“Enough!” he roared.
“How long are you going to keep pretending? You were the one sneaking around with Matthew, yet you blamed everything on Amelia. You disgust me.”
With that, Alexander turned and stormed out of the hospital room.
If he stayed any longer, he might actually throw Sophia out of the Bennett family.
Sophia stood there in stunned silence.
It took her a moment to realize what had just happened
Alexander… didn’t trust her anymore.
“Julian…” she whimpered weakly. “Why was Alexander so cruel to me? My ribs still hurt so much…”
Julian had no idea why Alexander suddenly lost his temper.
But seeing Sophia cry like that made his heart ache.
“Don’t worry, Sophia,” he said gently. “Let’s get a doctor o check you out.”
The tears still shimmered in Sophia’s eyes.
But behind them, hatred burned.
This was all Amelia’s fault.
If that woman hadn’t schemed behind the scenes, none of this would have happened. Alexander wouldn’t have yelled at her either.
Sophia clenched her fists.
Amelia…
I won’t let you get away with this,
Amelia sank into the bathtub at Riverview Estates, letting the warm water melt away the tension of the day. Her phone buzzed immediately. S had messaged.
“Check this out. My skills are top–notch. I know everything about Sophia and her little bed–hopping

adventures.”
Attached were the photos–Sophia with a string of men
“And I got you a little gift,” S added, “to make you smile.
Amelia raised an eyebrow. “What gift?”
“You’ll see tomorrow. Try not to get too excited–I’d hat for you to fall for me.”
Amelia rolled her eyes.
“Stop talking nonsense. The job I asked you to do isn’t finished yet.”
S sent a few more photos–an innocent–looking couple farming in the countryside.
“All set. This couple will be in Kingsley soon: Sit back and enjoy the show.”
Amelia saved a few shots and immediately logged off.
Then her phone pinged again–breaking news.
“Shocking! Homewrecker Sophia caught in the act with her lover–right in front of the wife!”
