Eudora had looked at her with pure disappointment, scolding, “You’re my biological daughter, yet you don’t know how to ease my burdens at all. Can’t you just give it a rest?”

Her brothers ignored her completely, even warning her not to start any rumors.

Meanwhile, Sophia frequently brought the servants to bully her in the dead of night, forcing her to eat spoiled food.

Dylan and the others treated all of this as if it had never happened. Instead, they had the absolute nerve to blame her for everything. It was laughable!

Alexander looked at Amelia with eyes full of heartache. He limped toward her on his crutch. “Amelia, you’ve suffered so much.”

Remembering how he had neglected and frozen her out in the past, Alexander, a six–foot–tall grown man, couldn’t help but tear up.

How did a fragile, helpless little girl like Amelia survive all those dark days?

Alexander’s deeply affectionate and pitying gaze literally made Amelia physically nauseous.

“Drop the saintly, pitying look. I’ve never acknowledged you as my brother anyway.”

Amelia’s coldness was like a thousand tiny needles piercing Alexander’s heart, the pain so sharp he forgot to breathe.

“Amelia, whether you see me as your brother or not, I’m truly happy you came to the hospital to see me today.”

If my sister is willing to visit me and bring me food, she must have forgiven me in her heart!

Why else would she come all this way to see me if she hasn’t forgiven me?

Amelia rolled her eyes internally. “Going to the hospital was just on the way. Don’t flatter yourself.”

She had let the crazy woman out and drilled it into her head that Sophia ruined the Ellises. When the woman went to the school for payback, Amelia just needed a solid alibi.

Passing by the hospital, Amelia had a lightbulb moment. She spent fifty cents at a street vendor for some snacks and brought it up to see Alexander.

With Alexander as her witness, she would be in the clear even if that psycho killed Sophia.

Amelia ditched them and headed upstairs. Dylan cursed at her retreating back in rage. “Look at her arrogant attitude! She doesn’t respect us as her brothers at all! She has zero manners!”

Amelia paused, suddenly turning around with a sweet smile. “You got that right. I grew up without parents to teach me manners. But if Sophia is so well–bred, why did she lock her biological parents in a room?”

“What!” Alexander flared up. “Who did you lock up?”

“Alexander. L…” Sophia shrank back, too afraid to speak.

Amelia gladly spoke for her. “I guess you guys didn’t know. Sophia’s bio parents came to Kingsley and are staying at the estate. Too bad Dylan tied them up and locked them in a room.”

Dylan suddenly felt a chill run down his spine. Amelia hadn’t even been home lately–how the hell did she know he locked Gavin and Gloria up?

Is there a rat in the house?

“Dylan! Is this how you handle things while I’m away?” Alexander was absolutely livid. “No wonder the media’s been hounding me lately, saying they have dirt on you and demanding a fortune to bury it! I’m out here wiping your *ss, and you’re at home stirring up trouble!”

Alexander hadn’t realized how serious it was, but then he recalled how all his recent gigs had been suspended and the sponsors had pulled their funding.

He thought it was just a bad season for the industry, but someone had actually been sabotaging him from the shadows!

“Alexander, I swear I didn’t know it would blow up like this. Besides, I just locked them in the house. How would anyone outside know? Someone must have leaked it to frame me.”

Dylan shot a suspicious glare at Amelia. “It was you, wasn’t it?! You’re jealous of how I treat Sophia, so you’ve been spreading lies out there!”

Smack!

Alexander slapped Dylan hard across his handsome face. “Even now, you’re still blaming Amelia, Cancel all your schedules. You’re staying home to reflect on your actions.”

Julian let out a heavy sigh. “Just listen to Alexander and stay home. Stop causing trouble.”

It was the first time Dylan had ever been slapped by his oldest brother. He stood frozen in shock, unable to snap out of it for a long time.

Did Alexander really just hit me over Amelia?
