Chapter 205 See You in Court
Everything upstairs went exactly as Amelia predicted. She knew her biological parents wouldn’t just let Sophia rot in the attic. So, she pulled out her phone and dialed 911.
Next morning, Amelia’s door was being banged on like crazy. William roared, “Amelia, get your *ss out here! You said you wouldn’t call the cops! You completely played us!”
Amelia was already dressed and styled. She opened the door in her heels, looking chill as ever facing her raging dad. “Alexander said he wouldn’t press charges. I never said I wouldn’t.”
“You… get down there right now and tell the cops you made a mistake!” William pointed at the two uniformed officers downstairs.
Amelia glanced down, flashing a dazzling smile. “Filing a false report is a crime. I’m not looking to get arrested. Plus, I’m busy. See ya.”

Today was the Harrington Group vs. Sterling Group trial. She had zero time for this circus.
Seeing her heading out, William rushed after her. “Stop! You are explaining this to the cops, or you aren’t leaving this house!”
The cops heard William’s threats and immediately blocked him, stepping between him and Amelia. “Miss, it looks like your family is giving you a hard time. Do you need legal protection?”
Amelia shot the officer a sweet, innocent smile. “Thanks, Officer, but I’m fine.”
“Get back here!”
William reached out to grab her, but the tall officer immediately slapped handcuffs on his wrist, giving him a deadly glare. “Mr. Bennett, we received a report that Sophia threatened to poison someone. Have her come down. She’s coming with us.”
Watching Amelia happily strut away, William was so furious he could burst, but there was nothing he could do. Right now, he just had to stall the cops and protect Sophia!
Amelia grabbed a cab to the Supreme Court. The second she stepped out, she spotted Cyrus in a sharp suit, constantly checking his watch like he was waiting for someone.
His assistant looked totally panicked. “Mr. Harrington, it’s time. Let’s head inside. Looks like Ms. Amelia really screwed you over this time.”
Forget about Ambrose Romeo, the so–called “Iron Mouth” of the legal world—even Amelia herself was a no–show. He’d been warning Cyrus not to get played by this woman, but his boss wouldn’t listen.

Now look. The Sterlings brought out their entire elite legal squad. They were out for blood. At this rate, Cyrus was gonna lose his shirt.
Cyrus checked his watch again, frowning. “Five more minutes.”
Just as he said that, a sweet voice chimed in. “You’re early, Mr. Harrington.”
The second Amelia appeared, the assistant’s eyes bugged out, and even Cyrus visibly tensed.
Amelia was rocking a stunning, blindingly red maxi dress with a black blazer draped over her shoulders. Paired with flawless makeup, she was giving off major boss vibes.
A woman like that was genuinely breathtaking. Absolutely gorgeous.
Cyrus gave her a slow, calculating look before replying politely, “I just got here myself.”
The assistant stood there, cringing internally. His boss had literally been standing outside for an hour, and he just claimed he “just got here.” Unbelievable.
“Looks like the trial is about to start. Shall we go in?”
Amelia dramatically checked her phone, then clicked her heels and headed inside.
Cyrus gave a cool “Mm,” and followed right behind her.
Inside the courtroom, the Sterlings‘ legal dream team took up a whole row. Sebastian was the only one missing. Amelia figured he probably wasn’t gonna show.
I mean, it was a minor hearing. Why would a busy guy like him bother?
Just as she thought that, a massive commotion broke out at the entrance, followed by a barrage of camera flashes.
“Mr. Sterling, what are your thoughts on today’s trial?”
“Rumor has it the Harrington Group suddenly turned on you because your fiancée stirred the pot. Is that true?”
A million questions were fired at Sebastian from the mob of reporters.
The noise at the door was deafening. Amelia didn’t want to look, but her inner drama queen took over, and she couldn’t help but glance back.
Their eyes locked. Amelia got caught dead to rights staring straight into Sebastian’s piercing
gaze.
Like a kid caught stealing candy, she instantly whipped her head away.
