Amelia happened to be sitting directly across from Sebastian. His eyes were half–closed, that intense, piercing gaze locked onto her without blinking.

“What the hell are you looking at?!” Amelia rolled her eyes right at him, not giving a single damn.

A lawyer from the Sterling Group suddenly let out a mocking laugh. “Mr. Harrington, your defense attorney still isn’t here. Need us to loan you one from the Sterlings?”

“Hahahaha!”

The courtroom instantly erupted into waves of sarcastic laughter.

Cyrus wasn’t triggered in the slightest. He just replied calmly, “Thanks, but no thanks.”

His assistant was sweating bullets. He couldn’t help but whisper to Amelia, “Ms. Bennett, where is Mr. Ambrose Romeo? The trial is literally about to start!”

“Chill. The heavy hitters always make a grand entrance.”

Seeing how totally confident she was, Cyrus kept his mouth shut. The assistant was too freaked out by her confidence to keep asking, so he just stood there, dying of anxiety.

The opposing lawyer kept poking the bear. “Word on the street is Mr. Harrington hired the internationally renowned elite lawyer, Ambrose Romeo. Is that actually true? Because from what I hear, nobody even knows where the guy is.”

This time, Cyrus didn’t just stay calm–he smirked. “Just because you can’t do it doesn’t mean others can’t. You’re too impatient, rookie. You’ve still got a lot to learn.”

The lawyer’s face froze. A wave of humiliation hit him, and his eye twitched. “Then I can’t wait to see if Mr. Harrington can actually get him here!”

Time ticked by. Across the aisle, Evelyn pouted and whined to Sebastian, “Sebastian, how can your fiancée treat you like this? Isn’t she totally throwing you under the bus?”

Sebastian turned his head, giving her a slow, unreadable look. “So, what do you think I should do?”

The second the trial officially started, the gallery exploded into whispers. “The entire Sterling legal team is here, why isn’t Harrington’s team showing up? Do they literally not have a lawyer?”

“Oh please, who would take this case? You could pay me a hundred million bucks and I still wouldn’t go up against the Sterling team!”

The Sterling Group was notoriously ruthless. Who in their right mind would dance on the devil’s doorstep? Did they have à death wish?

Cyrus frowned deeply, finally starting to panic. “Ms. Bennett, where exactly is Mr. Romeo?”

Amelia casually pulled a few A4 papers out of her designer mini–bag, stood up, and walked out from behind the desk. “Mr. Romeo couldn’t make it. But I’m here, and that’s just as good.”

Her words didn’t just stun Cyrus–they sent the entire gallery into fits of roaring laughter. “Is she kidding?! Does Amelia think she’s some kind of legal god? She thinks she can replace Ambrose?! She couldn’t even hold a candle to the worst lawyer on the Sterling team!”

“She just wants the spotlight, but does she even know how out of her league she is? It’s pathetic.” “Man, the Harrington Group is totally screwed, bringing a joke like her to court.”

Cyrus was visibly worried, his tone laced with doubt. “You? Are you seriously telling me you can take down the Sterling elites?”

Even though he knew Amelia wasn’t just a pretty face, he was sweating right now.
