William, seeing that Ryan was ignoring him, felt his face sour like he’d swallowed a lemon.

“Ryan! This is a private family matter. I’ll have to ask you to leave.”

He had been seconds away from crushing Amelia, and his patience was at its limit.

Ryan handed the ring to Amelia before finally turning to William with a look of pure contempt.

“Mr. Sterling instructed me to bring Miss Bennett home. He was worried she might be bullied while visiting.”

Ryan’s gaze was heavy, making William feel a sudden chill. He forced a laugh. “Bulleyed? She’s a Bennett! How could she be bullied in her own home? Right, Amelia?”

William’s eyes were full of threats, warning her not to speak a word of what happened.

But he forgot that the weak, terrified Amelia was long dead–murdered by their own hands in the past.

Amelia didn’t flinch. She met William’s murderous gaze and suddenly transformed into a fragile, terrified victim, hiding behind Ryan.

“Dad, you just said you were going to use the family discipline on me. I’m so scared!”

William’s face froze. “What are you talking about?!”

“Ryan, the Bennetts are terrifying. Please take me away before Sebastian’s fiancée gets beaten to death.”

Ryan almost laughed at her performance, but he kept his face professional and stern.

Miss Bennett is quite the actress, isn’t she?

“Mr. Bennett, I have a message from Mr. Sterling. Amelia is the future matriarch of the Sterling family. Bullying her is the same as bullying him.

“And before you bully him, you should consider if your skull is hard enough to take the hit.”

William was staggered. “Ryan, I thought the Sterlings were unhappy with Amelia? We were planning to have Sophia take the spot, so…”

“Mr. Bennett!”

Ryan cut him off sharply. “Amelia is the only woman Sebastian Sterling will ever marry. As for Sophia… a piece of trash like that isn’t even fit to shine a Sterling’s shoes.

“Those were Mr. Sterling’s exact words.”

Ryan looked at William with icy eyes, thinking, Keep bullying her, you old bastards. See where it gets you.

Sophia turned ghostly pale at the insult. Ignoring her pain, she crawled into Eudora’s arms and sobbed.

She had been engaged to Sebastian since they were children and always saw herself as his future wife. Sebastian had just publicly spat on her existence!

William was just as baffled.

Sebastian had never shown this much interest in Amelia before. Why was he suddenly acting like her personal shield?

Despite his rage, he didn’t dare cross the Devil of Kingsley.

William forced a groveling smile. “Of course, of course. Mr. Sterling is quite right.”

Now that the message is delivered, Miss Bennett, shall I escort you back?”

Amelia nodded, waving her transfer agreement with a bright, triumphant smile. “Thanks! Catch ya later!”

As Amelia turned to leave, Julian scrambled to his feet. “Amelia! Wait for me!”

The Bentley sped away before he could reach it. In a panic, Julian jumped into his own car to follow.

Back at the villa, William looked at the wreckage of his home and realized 30% of his company was gone. He looked like he was about to explode.

Sophia, covered in blood and bruises, whimpered to William. “Dad, how could she steal our shares for an >utsider? She’s going to destroy us!”

Eudora chimed in, “We never should have brought that animal back. Our Sophia is so good, but that brat only knows how to cause trouble!”

William slammed his hand on the table. “Don’t worry, Sophia. I’ll make sure you marry into the Sterlings. You are the only daughter of this family!”

Amelia was a wild thing they couldn’t control. Only Sophia, raised by his side, was loyal enough to help the Bennetts rise to the top.

Mom, Dad… when I marry Sebastian, I’ll make sure he supports the family.”
