Panicking, I came up with another lie and stood up. “Oh… it must just be from when I ran into a wall earlier.” I grabbed my. purse and turned to leave. “I’ll just go…”
Alvise grabbed my arm and yanked me back so fast that I crashed into his chest. His hands clamped around my waist to steady me, his breath fanning across my face as he leaned closer. “You’re not stepping out of this room until you answer my question.”
I swallowed nervously, the possibility of him forcing the truth out of me making dread settle ‘deep inside me. “I’ve already answered your question, Alvise.”
He cocked a brow. “You wore foundation to cover it up,” he scoffed, bringing his lips beside my ear and sending goosebumps racing over my skin. “Did you really think I wouldn’t notice… That I wouldn’t notice anything about you?”
A reckless shiver raced down my spine, making me tremble. “I… I didn’t try to cover it.”
“You’re hiding something,” Alvise said, bringing his face back to mine. “And I’m going to find out.” His nose nudged mine, my eyes skimming over his face, taking in the unwavering determination in his eyes. “And you’d be better off telling me before that happens.”
“Alvise…” I gasped as he pressed his lips on my shoulder blade and sucked on the skin.
My head turned hazy, shock surging through me as I shuddered and grabbed his shirt to steady myself. He lifted his head to look at me, then brought his lips closer. Terribly close.
His hands flexed against my waist as they slowly moved up and down my sides. My heart thundered in my chest, butterflies erupting in my stomach as heat formed deep within me.
I couldn’t breathe.
He was close… so close I could see the blue of his eyes more clearly. I could smell his addictive scent.
This had to be a dream.
