Read Arabella and Alvise novel Chapter 109
“Your boss?” I asked, shaking my head. “Your boss could also be a kidnapper,” I said.
The man raised a brow and looked down at himself. “I’m standing here getting soaked in the rain because he asked me to come help,” he said dryly, shouting so his voice could be heard over the downpour. “If Iwanted to harm you, I would’ve done that already.”
I glared at him, and he glared right back, his nostrils flaring as though he was genuinely enraged by the thought of getting drenched because of me.
I looked back at the car, then at him again, and shook my head, refusing to fall for anyone’s act anymore.
“Thank you so much, and I’m sorry for getting you wet because of me,” I said, trying to keep the panic out of my voice.
He could easily overpower me and drag me to the car, so I was treading carefully.
The man nodded and hurried back toward the car, but instead of getting in, he leaned through the open window and appeared to speak to someone inside.
Whatever the person said made him turn to look at me before beckoning for me to come over.
I wiped the rain from my face and shook my head, raising a hand to shoo him away. The stupidity of what I was doing wasn’t lost on me. Instead of making a run for it, I was standing there having a conversation with potential kidnappers… or murderers.
The man looked frustrated as he walked back, and before I could run, he rushed over and grabbed my hand. “Please, just let us drop you off somewhere at least. My boss won’t leave without you.”
I hated myself for even considering it… for actually weighing my options, but I had no choice. I could run, and they’d chase me down in their car. I was helpless either way, so why not take the chance?
