Read Arabella and Alvise novel Chapter 167

“You piece of shit,” Theo snapped, his eyes flashing with anger and a hint of fear. “I always knew something was up with the both of you,” he accused, looking from me to Alvise, who was now standing dangerously close behind me. “Boss, my foot.”

What was he implying? I felt helpless and terrified.

“You look like shit,” Alvise observed calmly, though his tone was anything but.

“And you look clean and proper, like the devil you are.”

“Thank you,” Alvise said. “I try.”

I turned back to look at him, but he wasn’t looking at me. His attention was fixed on Theo, and without warning, he took a step forward.

“Go inside.”

Panic swirled inside me. “Why…” I said, glancing between them. “He might do something…”

The corner of Alvise’s lips lifted. “Are you worried about me?”

I cleared my throat and stepped aside, shaking my head. “No, I’m not… I’m just…”

“I said go in.” he commanded, every flicker of amusement gone from his face.

ared at him, wondering if I knew him at all.

He looked so cold. There was no life in his eyes, like he’d rid himself of every trace of human emotion.

Shocked, I walked back inside, not daring to look back.

“That took you a lot of time,” Sierra said as I walked back to the table.

I kept my head low, ignoring the many stares I received. “The package I ordered was mixed up. I was complaining to the delivery guy.”

“They get everything wrong these days,” Archie chimed in. “But is it sorted now?”

I forced a smile. “Yes.”

I bounced my leg under the table, restless as I kept looking toward the door, waiting for Alvise to come in.

Was he okay? Did Theo hurt him?

The door opened, and I glanced at it impatiently, only to see Alvise walk in and shut the door before walking back to the table.

“You’re finished with your call?” Tatiana asked from beside him.

Alvise didn’t respond. He grabbed his cutlery and calmly resumed eating.

I let my eyes travel to his knuckles, where a sharp splash of colour caught my attention.

Everything stilled except my racing heart.

There was blood on his knuckles, but the skin underneath it was clean.

The blood wasn’t his.
