“What do you mean by ‘you saw Cassie with Tatiana”?”

I clasped my hands together on my work desk, my gaze meeting Sierra’s. “Exactly what I said, Sierra,” I whined, still panicking. “They were sitting at the same table.”

I hadn’t told her about meeting up with Tatiana or what Tatiana had pulled yet, afraid she would make an enemy out of her.

I didn’t want to drag Sierra into this, especially now that I was beginning to realize just how powerful Tatiana was.

Powerful enough to threaten my job.

Sierra stood up and started pacing around the office, her lips pushed into a deep frown.

I wasn’t surprised by her restlessness. After seeing it for myself yesterday, I’d spent the entire day disturbed. I couldn’t eat, sleep, or function properly.

Not when I’d just discovered that someone who was once my friend was now meeting up with Alvise’s fiancée.

“It doesn’t make sense, Arabella,” Sierra observed. “They’re not supposed to know each other. How could that be possible?”

“I’ve been thinking the same thing.”

“Do you think she’s trying to get revenge on me?”

I raised a brow. “Revenge? Why would she want to get revenge on you? And how would she even do that through Tatiana?”

Sierra sighed and walked back to her desk, resting her head on it. “I don’t know… I’m just so confused.”

I nodded. “I am too. Tatiana just got back from Russia,” I pointed out. “It’s not possible that they ran into each other and became friends so soon, is it?”

“Arabella?”

I shot my eyes toward the door to see Leah walking in, a grimace on her face.

“What?” I snapped, too overwhelmed to bother pretending to be nice.

“You need to go to the conference room now,” Leah said.

“Why? Is there a meeting?” I asked, standing up.

“You’ll find out when you get there,” she said, turning on her heel and leaving the office.

“Seems like she’s having a bad day,” Sierra observed. “When did she ever walk in here without taunting us?”

“I’m also surprised,” I said, running my fingers through my hair. “Good thing it worked in our favor.”

I winked at Sierra before exiting the office. My attention was fixed on my phone as I walked through the hallway, but awareness suddenly prickled across my skin, and I snapped my head up.

Alvise strode through the hallway, his eyes matching his navy suit, his face so striking that I paused.

“Hi, what are you…”

He walked past me without sparing me a glance.
