Read Arabella and Alvise novel Chapter 193

ARABELLA’S POV

I rubbed my hand over my face, staring at my reflection in the mirror.

My phone, still turned off, was tucked away inside my drawer.

I refused to turn it on and see what was going on online. I hadn’t even left the house. Sierra had dropped by this morning. but I’d been asleep, and Archie didn’t want to wake me.

I was still trapped in my little bubble, pretending thousands of people weren’t running with the idea that was a gold digger who had lured Henry and his driver to their deaths.

It was a shady story, one that opened my eyes to the fact that someone close to me had shared that story with the press. I wasn’t real, but the person somehow knew about my dates with Henry. It was weird.

“Arabella? Are you done?” Archie asked from outside the room.

I turned away from the mirror, slipped my phone into my pocket, and grabbed my suitcase. “Yes!” I called, dragging it towards the door and opening it. “Just finished.”

He sighed. “Okay. I think I just saw Alvise’s car pull up. He left work for this, so I don’t want to have him wait.”

Archie grabbed my suitcase and walked through the hallway to the living room with me trailing behind him. He unlocked the door and helped me get the suitcase outside.

“I’ll miss you!” I squeaked, hugging Archie so tightly that he had to pull back and glare at me.

I was finally moving back to my apartment.

It was safe to say it took Alvise bringing that door down for me to use as leverage and convince my brother to finally let me leave.

The door had been fixed two hours after it was broken, but I’d capitalized on it,

“I can’t believe you’re actually doing this,” Archie said, running his hands through his hair. “I’ll miss you.”

I pouted, looking away so I wouldn’t end up crying. “I’ll miss you more!”

And that was precisely why I was hell-bent on moving out. Staying here would only make me get attached and make it harder when it was finally time to leave.

I couldn’t stay with him forever, and his wedding with Francesca was fast approaching. They had already picked a date, though it was still being discussed. But being around to witness the plans was starting to take a toll on me.

“Call me anytime you need anything. I mean ANYTHING,” Archie instructed firmly, his eyes soft and warm.

I nodded. “Yes, I will. And make sure you keep a steady restock of my favorite ice cream flavors so you can send them over anytime I’m craving some.”

“Or you could buy yours and keep it with you.”

The voice came from behind me, but I didn’t turn.

My body’s sudden sensitivity told me exactly who it was.

“Is she ready?” he asked, his question directed at Archie.

“I’m right here,” I scoffed. “You could just ask me.”

Ether to bring the bags down now. I have to get back to work,” he said, and then I heard his retreating footsteps.

“You came all the way up just to say that?” Archie chuckled. “And come on, man, you really want her to take these bags down herself?”

“He’s not a gentleman,” I said, holding onto the suitcase handles. “I’ll just manage on my own.”

“Or you could ask nicely,” Alvise said, pressing the button for the elevator.

“Never,” I retorted before turning back and smiling at my brother. “See you soon, little Arch!”

“The names you call me are weird,” he joked, though his eyes looked sad. “Will you be okay?”

My shoulders sagged. He was referring to the news.

Archie had refused to let me go for the same reason, but I assured him I’d be fine. Though he only agreed once I promised to get a security guard. I thought it was a ridiculous condition but went along with it because I assumed getting one would be expensive and difficult.

Unfortunately for me, he spoke to Alvise about it, and that meant there was a possibility it was happening.

“I’ll try to be,” I replied honestly. “Take care of yourself, Archie. Please.”

He nodded, but turned around immediately and shut the door. I thought I saw his eyes redden, and I itched to drop my bags and go after him, but I held myself back.

I could only imagine what the last few days had been like for him. He never asked me about my connection to Henry’s case or why I hadn’t told him about him, so I knew it was because he was waiting for me to tell him when I was ready.

And Alvise had probably filled him in a little after the news broke.

“I’m not going to hold this elevator all day,” Alvise’s irritated voice snapped me out of my thoughts.

I turned to look at him. “You’re always so nice and welcoming. It’s insane,” I said sarcastically.

Alvise released the elevator doors, letting me walk in. “I try.”

I rolled my eyes and leaned against the wall, wondering how long I was going to hide from my new reality.

I wasn’t even thinking about the possibility of still having my job. It was better not to have any hopes so I wouldn’t be disappointed when I was eventually told I’d lost it.

The elevator stopped, and the doors opened. I leaned down to grab my bags before walking out with them.

Before I could reach the lobby, Alvise spoke.

“Wait.”

I froze until he grabbed the suitcases from me. “You waited until I did most of the work before you offered to help?”

He dropped the bags to the floor and walked past me. “Finish what you started, then.”

“Wait!” I yelled. The bags were a little heavy, and we still had to walk to the car. “You can help me.”

Alvise turned around and rubbed his hand over his jaw. “That’s not a request. Make it a request.”

I scoffed, but my shoulders sagged in defeat. I opened my mouth to do just as he said, but the words caught in my throat

when Tatiana’s voice echoed through the lobby.

Baby! What are you doing with her?”
