Read Arabella and Alvise novel Chapter 224
ARABELLA’S POV
“What?” Sierra gasped. “Why?”
I shot her a look to keep her voice down before wincing as the pain in my arm got even more intense.
“I’m not going to his country.” I said, closing my eyes as the pain in my arm became uncontrollable. “So V have to run before he gets back… or else I won’t have a chance.”
“This is crazy. Of course, I don’t want you to go…” Her voice turned emotional, “but running away is impossible. This is Alvise we’re talking about. He’ll find you.”
“He won’t care. He’ll just take it as a sign that I don’t want to go with him, and he’ll leave.” I said confidently. “He doesn’t care that much.”
“I think this is a bad idea, Arabella.” Sierra mumbled, “I mean, how does one even run from a mob lord? Where could you possibly go…”
“I’m struggling to know if you actually want me here or not.” I snapped. “Whose side are you on?”
“Yours, of course! But I…”
“No buts, Sierra. I’m not pathetic enough to give up my life, no matter how miserable it is, and go live with strangers who would want to kill me.” I shivered at the thought, and it only strengthened my decision. “We have to leave. There’s no time.”
“Before we do anything, I want to ask. Why does he want you to go with him all of a sudden?”
I blinked, surprised by how serious she was. “For my safety… he asked me what I wanted, and I… it’s stupid, really, but I said I wanted to be safe, and so he decided to take me with him to Russia.”
Sierra looked like she was on the brink of tears. “When did he say he wanted to go?”
My heart softened as I spotted the vulnerability in her voice. She was scared of me actually leaving because she didn’t trust that I could escape from him.
But I would.
“Tomorrow.”
“Why don’t we spend the last hours we have together having fun and doing something together?” She asked, breaking into a sob. “I’d prefer it that way than haye us miss out on moments together because we’re running.”
She was right.
That was the safest option, but I couldn’t afford to sit still, waiting for Alvise to come and decide my fate.
“I’m not going to accept his decision, Sierra. I don’t care if I have to get the police involved.”
“The police?” She scoffed and shook her head. “He probably has them under his pocket.”

“He does.” I agreed. “But it can’t be all, right?”
abella… This doesn’t sound good.” She said, worry sparking in her eyes.

I could see that she had accepted the truth and believed this was it. But I never would. And because I didn’t want to pull her into any more problems, I made a tough decision in my mind.
“Why do you look so sad?” I joked. “If I was really going to Russia, do you think it would be the last time we’d see each other? I have a family here… my brother… my parents.” My heart sank as I thought about them. “I will definitely come back after some time.”
Sierra sniffed and walked closer. “I know you will… it’s just… I can’t imagine my life without you.” Tears after tears slipped from her eyes. “You’re literally like my other half. I live and breathe your presence and you’ve been the only person I can always count on. I… won’t be able to survive.”
I tried to hold it in, but I couldn’t. The tears fell, and I ignored the pain I was in as I pulled her into a hug with my uninjured hand. “There is no way I would be able to live a day with the thought of not being able to see you if I wanted. With everything going on in my life and everything that has happened, you have stood by me through it all. Even when I was wrong, when I had no one and when my brother left me…” I sobbed hard, my throat feeling dry. “You never left, Sierra… never.”
“I love you, Arabella. Probably more than I love myself,” she cried, “but I’m forcing myself to be at peace with this situation because in some messed-up way, I know only Alvise would truly be able to protect you after all that’s happened.”
How would I tell her that even if he protected me from the world, no one would protect me from the pain he caused?
How could I ever see the man I liked so deeply and spent years thinking about marrying another woman? The thought alone was breaking me, so I couldn’t imagine how living in the moment would feel.
“Your arm… we need to go see a doctor.” Sierra said, pulling back and glancing at it. “Wait here, let me get my phone and get dressed.” She said, rushing out of the living room before I could take a proper look at her face.
She was probably going to cry more, and didn’t want me to see how hurt she was. That alone made me want to carry out my plan.
I grabbed the jacket draped on the couch that I suspected belonged to Alvise and wore it to hide my arm before I rushed to the door and opened it.
As expected, the guards moved to block my path.
“Where are you going, madam?” One of them asked.
“Your boss is waiting for me downstairs.” I muttered, smiling.
They shared a look, and one of them raised their brow. “But… didn’t you get shot, and he brought in a doctor to treat you? Why would he call you downstairs now?”
I sighed. “I knew you two wouldn’t believe me. Should I call him?” I asked, trying to slip my hand into the jacket to pretend I was pulling out my phone.

“There’s no need for that.” The other said, stopping me. “You may go, madam.”

Washed a smile and rushed to the elevator, hissing at the sharp pain that spread through my arm.
With a speed that shocked me, I managed to take the elevator downstairs, exit the apartment building, and make my way to the road.
I had no idea where I was going, and I had no money with me. Not even a phone.
Absentmindedly, I reached into the jacket pocket and flinched when my fingers grazed paper. Paper thay felt like money.
With raised brows, I pulled a roll out and nearly dropped it the moment I saw what it was
Hundred-dollar bills.
Relief flooded me, and I shoved them back into my pocket, the weight in my chest feeling lighter.
I spent over five minutes looking for a cab, and thankfully, one finally stopped. I got in hastily and just asked the driver to take me to a hospital. I was going to get treated, then find a place to stay for the night.
The cab driver started the car, but before he could drive from the parked spot, a car drove at an alarming speed and blocked his path. Other cars rounded us, their lights flashing and almost blinding me, and my heart rate picked up, alarm shooting through me.
What the hell was going on?
I didn’t have time to think because the door suddenly opened, and I was yanked out of the car, my wound getting bruised in the process before I was pushed forward.
Someone caught me. Someone strong. And when I managed to look up, crying through the pain and struggling to breathe, my blood dried in my veins.
Blue eyes glared at me, his face stone-cold. “Going somewhere?”
