Seeing Stars

ARABELLA’S POV

The loudest moan ripped froin my throat, and I buried my face in his neck to stifle it, my body shaking violently just from the feel of his tongue on my boobs.

Stars. It felt like I was seeing stars.

Alvise didn’t hold back. He moved his tongue and sucked on my nipple with so much pressure that I found myself begging him to stop, only to beg him to continue the next second.

I didn’t know what I wanted.

A knock sounded on the door, and I tensed, my eyes snapping open, but he didn’t stop.

Alvise moved to my left nipple, which had been patiently aching to get as much attention as he had given the right one, and I sighed in relief, pressing my folds against his belt as I tried to ease the tension that had built between my legs.

Another knock reverberated through the room, and then another, until Alvise sucked in a sharp breath and finally stopped.

Disappointment swirled within me, and I wanted to throw whoever was behind the door into the sea.

I was that frustrated.

Just as another knock sounded, Alvise leaned back, taking his warmth away from me, and gently set me on my feet.

Heat crept up to my cheeks, and I turned away from him, unable to look him in the face.

“Who is there?” Alvise asked, his gaze still warming my face.

“It’s me, Pakhan. Sorry to disturb you.”

I frowned. The voice sounded like Igor’s. Why had he been knocking like that?

“What do you want?”

“Everyone is still waiting for you to come down for breakfast.”

From the corner of my eye, I saw Alvise glance at his wristwatch before he spoke. “I’ll be down soon.”

I rushed into the walk-in closet to grab a fresh towel before securing it over my chest and looking for something to wear.

The hairs on my nape stood, and my stomach tightened as the awareness settled over me that he’d walked into the closet.

“You’re coming down for breakfast with me.”

My eyes widened, and I turned to look at him. “No.”

Unbothered by my very clear protest, he leaned against the glass panel and crossed his ankles. “I’m waiting.”

I sell couldn’t bring myself to look into his eyes, so I glanced around the closet instead. “I’ll eat up here.”

“It’s not allowed. I only allowed you to eat here yesterday because the day had been hectic.”

I was about to bite my lip, but the memories of what he’d said to me made me clamp my mouth shut.

Frustrated, I finally met his gaze and frowned. “But I’m not part of the family, so why does the rule apply

to me?”

Alvise’s eyes narrowed. “You’re now my wife.”

I opened my mouth. Closed it.

I had nothing to say. He was right, but that didn’t mean I was a fan of the idea.

The title sounded foreign and I was going to have a hard time adjusting to it.

His wife? Twenty-four hours ago, I was just his “guest.”

I took a deep breath. “I don’t want to wear extravagant dresses to eat, Alvise,” I complained.

“I’m not asking you to do that,” he said calmly.

I pursed my lips. “But your family… They’re wearing…”

“Wear what you would normally wear when you want to eat, Arabella,” he instructed. “You don’t have to do what you don’t want to do.”

I relaxed my shoulders and nodded. “Okay. Oh, and… I think you can put the bandage on me after breakfast,” I said because I wasn’t sure I’d be able to remain sane if his hands came anywhere near me now.

My body was insanely sensitive.

Alvise watched me like he could hear every one of my thoughts, and then he stroked his chin before pushing off the glass panel. “I’ll be waiting in the room.”

The moment he walked out of the closet, I sighed in relief and quickly got changed into black pants and a tank top, but paired them with a grey hoodie because it was getting freezing cold.

After spraying Alvise’s cologne, I walked back into the room.

“Ready?”

I looked up, meeting his gaze as he stood from the armchair. “Ready.”

We headed toward the door, and then I walked out after he held it open.

Because memories of his mouth and hands on me began to resurface, I started tangling my fingers together as we walked down the stairs, trying desperately to push all the thoughts away.

I didn’t need to try too hard because the moment we reached the foot of the stairs, the sight of his family

waiting for us to arrive made my shoulders tense.

Alexer first caught sight of us, and a dark scowl appeared on his face. “I knew allowing this girl into the house was a very terrible decision.” He snorted. “Family traditions are now being broken.”

Alvise walked past him with me trailing behind as the rest of the table acknowledged us.

Alvise sat down in the chair at the head of the table, and I tried walking over to sit with his sister like I had the last two times, but he stopped me and pointed to the seat next to him.

I hesitated, almost crumbling under the heavy weight of everyone’s eyes on me, but the hard look on Alvise’s face told me there was no negotiation, so I sat down.

“Nonsense!” Alexei rasped, shaking his head. “How would you let a stranger…”

“It’s too early for your tantrums,” Alvise cut him off. “Save them for later.”

I didn’t dare look Alexei in the face because I feared he would pour his aggression from being shut down by Alvise onto me.

My eyes clashed with Mrs. Valerio’s, and I looked down immediately, the harshness in them already throwing me off.

Her glare reminded me of our last encounter and how I had exposed her true intentions to Alvise.

I knew she would double down and hate me even more.

“Wait… what’s that on your finger?” Rozaliya, who had been watching us quietly, exclaimed, snapping my attention to her.

I glanced at the diamond shining on my finger and then at Alvise, wondering what I was supposed to say.

With his eyes fixed on me and only me, Alvise announced, “That’s her wedding ring.” His lips twitched. “We’re married.”
