Read Arabella and Alvise novel Chapter 281
ARABELLA’S POV
I dropped my gaze to the floor, his eyes too intense and piercing to look into as the weight of his words landed heavily in my heart.
His wife.
Anytime he said that, stupid hope swirled in my chest, and I found myself wishing for things that would never be.
He was right.
People already hated the fact that he married me, and me running off like that was dangerous. “I… didn’t plan on going that far…”
Alvise gripped my chin with his fingers and tipped it up, craning my head back. “Don’t get me started on what you planned to do, Arabella.” His breath fanned across my face as he brought his face closer. “You wanted to run off with that fool?”
I shook my head, holding his gaze. “I had no idea William was in Russia, Alvise. I swear I didn’t.”

A dark look crossed his face, and he raised a brow, his voice cold and harsh as he spoke. “And you want me to believe that?” He scoffed. “You’re telling me the moment you stormed off, William suddenly appeared, right on time to take you with him?”
I nodded. “I promise I wasn’t in contact with him, Alvise. You bugged my phone, remember?… And I haven’t used it since… So how could I contact him?”
He stepped back, releasing me like my touch disgusted him and slipping his hands into his pockets.
“I can’t believe a word you say! Not after you looked me in the face and promised to date as many men as you could in Moscow.” Alvise snarled. “You made that really clear.”
Regret churned in my chest, and I dug my nails into my palm.
I never actually meant it… Hell, I could never even do something like that. I said it because I was angry… and I still am.
“It was just a rant.” I said, stepping into his personal space even though it was extremely clear he didn’t want to be anywhere near me. “I didn’t mean it.”
Alvise swiped a thumb over his lip, his narrowed eyes fixed on me. “But you said it.”
“Because you implied you were having an affair with Viktoriya!” I exclaimed, tired of holding it in.
“I never implied that.” Alvise stated firmly. “You did.”
My face fell, and I stared at him in disbelief. “And you never denied it. Don’t you see how that looked? Hearing me say I was going to date other men pissed you off, so how do you think I felt?”
Alvise ran a hand through his hair and breathed out in frustration. “Is that how low you think of me?” He

asked, weakly calm. “That I would date two sisters?”

“And why is it hard for you to assume you’re the one I might really want?” Alvise cut in, his deep voice sizzling across my skin.
I snapped my head up to look at him, my legs almost giving way as his eyes bored into mine
I opened my mouth.
Closed it.
Taking a deep breath, I tried again. “Because… you can hardly stand me.”
“Fucking hell.” Alvise hissed. “Are you that fucking clueless?”
It couldn’t be what I thought, right?
No…
“What… Do you mean?”
He slid his hands over my waist and pressed me flush against him, knocking the breath out of me as his hands roamed my waist, but there was nothing soft or doting about his touch.
He was enraged.
I could feel it in the way his fingers roughly gripped my waist, the way his harsh breaths fanned across my face, and the way his eyes, full of anger, glared into mine.
“You sleep in my room, Arabella.” He gritted. “MY room. I never let any other soul in here for more than a fucking hour.”
My stomach fluttered and a shiver ran through me, leaving me overwhelmed and confused by the emotions swirling inside of me.
“I touch you more than I should, and the thought of you being dead is something I can’t fucking tolerate.” He rasped, his nose brushing mine. “Sure, I can’t fucking stand you, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want you, Arabella.”
I gasped, melting into his touch as I replayed his words in my head over and over again.
He didn’t just say that, did he?
“Say that again.” I whispered, still in disbelief, my heart almost lurching out of my chest from how fast it was beating.
A muscle ticked in his jaw, and his lips brushed over mine as he spoke. “I want you…” He slid his hands from my waist to my hips, pushing me further into him until I could feel the hardness beneath his pants. “And I fucking hate that I do.”
His tone was harsh and cold, proving how much he actually hated it, but with each rough touch, heat

Then Why did you not deny being with Viktoriya?” I mumbled, stepping onto his shoes so our faces were closer and tiptoeing to brush my lips against his.
Alvise watched me like he always did, not stopping me. “Because the fact that you would even think of it as a possibility pissed me off.”
I opened my mouth to speak, but he hoisted me up, and I yelped, straddling him and wrapping my hands around his neck.
But Alvise wasn’t done. He turned and pressed my back against the wall, his face stoic. “Now tell me what the fuck you meant by that little threat.” He sneered, his voice dangerously low.
My pulse quickened, the dark look in his eyes intimidating me. “I… said it in the heat of the moment.”
Alvise shook his head. “In the heat of the moment, huh? You think that was a threat? That I would not really kill all the men in Moscow if they looked at you the wrong way?”
I bit my lip, unable to respond, just as he trailed a hand down to my ass and cupped it, his touch rough yet strangely tender, sending a heated shiver through me and making the ache between my legs almost unbearable.
Alvise leaned closer, his lips brushing against my ear. “And you wanted to escape?” he murmured, a dark chuckle rumbling through his chest.
“There is nothing I wouldn’t do to find you.” His voice dropped to a dangerously low whisper. “Nothing.”
