Ruined By My Brother’s Best Friend

I’m Distracting?

ARABELLA’S POV

There was something up with Alvise.

I didn’t know what it was. In fact, I couldn’t even guess if you asked me, but there had suddenly been a shift in the air.

One I couldn’t quite put my finger on.

After making me wet all over again and slipping his hands under my panties, he’d suddenly left the room, telling me to go to bed.

Oh, I tried… I really tried.

But how could I go to bed after he made me all hot and bothered?

I couldn’t do it.

And it didn’t help that I kept replaying our conversation over and over again, wondering what it was that had made him leave the room with his jaw clenched so hard, it hurt me to look at it.

So, instead of staying in bed wondering, I decided to go find out for myself.

After basically threatening the poor guards outside the door, they told me he was in his study.

And now, here I was, staring into his piercing eyes, tongue-tied after he had just asked me what I was doing here.

“Good question,” I mumbled, shutting the door behind me and walking further into the room, looking around.

It was a very spacious study, with both modern and traditional designs blended beautifully, the woodwork immensely intricate.

The vibe was cozy and serious at the same time.

“I told you I came here to work.”

I looked up to see Alvise watching me calmly, though the veins protruding on the back of his hand as he tapped his fingers against the desk told me he was anything but calm.

Interesting.

I shrugged. “I’m not stopping you from working, am I?”

I looked away immediately before he could reply and walked toward the large library that looked so inviting, I couldn’t help but walk toward it.

“You are.”

I stilled, my hands freezing over a book as I reached for it, shocked by Alvise’s reply.

I turned to look at him. “How so?”

Alvise leaned back in his chair, his throat bobbing as he tilted his head to the side.

“Your presence is distracting.”

I blinked, my heart skipping its next beat.

That wasn’t the response I’d been expecting.

Shaking away the shock, I cleared my throat. “And… how is my presence distracting?”

Alvise stroked his chin. “Is this question a trap?”

“Definitely not.” I smiled sheepishly. “It’s an innocent question.”

“I beg to differ,” he mumbled, the corner of his lips lifting.

But the smirk was gone as fast as it appeared, and seconds later, his face was back to being stoic, his eyes hard.

“Leave, Arabella.”

I leaned against a shelf and raised a brow. “You’re acting weird.”

Alvise chuckled darkly, the sound sending shivers down my spine.

“Because I didn’t fuck you?”

“You won’t?” I asked, turning to look at him.

It was a silly question, and another stupid blush swept over my cheeks the moment it left my mouth.

I wasn’t desperate to sleep with him again. In fact, I was quite scared because of how big he’d felt the last time, but I couldn’t deny the fact that I thought about it.

A little too much.

“Yes, I won’t.” Alvise said, tapping a finger against the desk. “Never.”

My heart sank into my stomach, disappointment swirling through me, but I refused to let it show.

I stalked toward him, stopping in front of his desk again, putting as little distance between us as possible.

“Why? You’re scared?” I asked, leaning over his desk.

Alvise leaned forward and, without warning, locked his fingers in my hair and pulled back slightly until my neck was exposed to him and I was facing the ceiling.

“I’m many things, Arabella, but scared is not one of them.”

He sucked on my skin, pressing his lips down hard and grazing his teeth over my collarbone.

I felt it straight through my legs, and I clamped them together.

“So what’s your reason?” I asked, gasping as he slipped a hand under my hoodie and dipped it beneath my tank top, grabbing my breasts.

“I have a couple of reasons,” he said, cupping me.

“Hmm.” I hummed, ignoring the heat in my core. “Give me one.”

“I don’t want to,” Alvise said, releasing his grip on my hair and breasts and pulling back, a mischievous glint of satisfaction in his eyes.

My blood ran cold in my veins, but with each passing second, my lips curved sideways into a smile as I came up with a plan.

If this was a game, I was going to play it.

And he was going to lose.
