His Pov-Control

ALVISE’S POV

Control.

It was something many wanted, few thought they had, and almost no one possessed.

I had a thing for having something no one else did, and of course, control was one of them.

I was always in control.

Always.

But now, with my fingers still glistening with Arabella’s arousal, I was forced to doubt what I’d always known.

Her wide green eyes were fixed on me, half-lidded as she struggled to get over the shock of me dipping my hand into her underwear.

Fucking hell.

There was nothing about her body that didn’t appeal to me, and the thought of that alone pissed me off.

I was being intentional about not letting my gaze drop to her body because, even in the damn hoodie and sweatpants, she was as irresistible as she was every other day.

But I wasn’t going to fuck her.

Not today and, hopefully, not in the near future. I almost crossed that line today after using every last bit of control I had, until Andrei came to call me downstairs.

I’d never found my right-hand man more useful than I had today, and that was messed up because he’d gone on plenty of missions for me. But I digress. I wasn’t going to let that control snap again.

“Why are you looking at me like that?” Arabella asked, searching my face.

I didn’t respond.

Slowly, I licked off every last drop of her wetness, the single act making my c*ck twitch, but I didn’t pay attention to it.

“Go to bed,” I said, taking a step back and darting my eyes away from her before I lost it.

“Alvise… what’s the problem?”

I paused on my way to the door, her soft voice doing nothing but cementing my decision not to fuck her.

Neither of us was ready for what taking that step would mean.

“Nothing,” I muttered, running my hand over my lip and continuing my walk to the door. “I have work to do,”

I said, and then I walked out of the room, heading to my study.

I couldn’t deny the fact that I wanted her.

Damn, I can’t emphasize it enough.

But I hated it… despised it, and quite frankly, was disgusted by it. It wasn’t just about her… it was me.

I didn’t like the thought of wanting someone else, especially her.

Why did it have to be her?

She messed with my control, made me do things I shouldn’t, and had me breaking every rule I had.

My life had been planned out. I’d meticulously curated an environment where things like this didn’t exist.

I wasn’t supposed to want another person alive or worry about them being on the Bratva’s hit list.

I’d lived the perfect life before her, with three rules I followed religiously.

Don’t give a shit.

Don’t make decisions on impulse.

Everything fell into place how I wanted it to, until my uncle… Rodian fucking Valerio, the Pakhan, was attacked, and his family, including his rightful heir and successor, were killed.

All in one night.

Rodian had been in a coma, and for some odd reason, the moment the bald man regained consciousness, he wanted to see me.

And then it all changed. I was called back to Russia, a place I didn’t plan on returning to for a while.

That was the first and only hitch in my perfectly curated life.

Or so I thought, until one of my undercover guards sent me a text saying he saw my supposed ‘best friend’s sister heading into my apartment building on the night of my university graduation.

I knew she was coming even before another guard alerted me before she got into the elevator.

It was a dark night, and I was pissed after getting the call from Alexei that I was to return to Russia, and then Arabella walked into my apartment, all innocent and soft, the representation of everything I despised.

I wanted her out of my space the moment she got in.

She was a contradiction of everything I wanted, like light walking into darkness.

Infuriating.

So when she kissed me, I wanted to take out my gun right there and blow out her brains. Her audacity pissed me off because I hated being touched… despised it.

However, for some stupid reason, when she kissed me again, I realized I was full of bullshit because I kissed her back.

And I didn’t stop.

A knock sounded on the door, and I shoved the memory down, happy for the distraction.

“Come in.”

The door opened, and the moment my eyes clashed with those of the same woman who had been tormenting my thoughts, I balled my hands into fists at my sides.

“What are you doing here, Arabella?”
