Ruined By My Brother’s Best Friend

He’s Making Me Nervous… Again

ARABELLA’S POV

Tatiana was unarguably the most manipulative person I’d ever met.

And right there with her was Irina, her loyal maid who actually thought she could attempt to slap me.

After Tatiana threw herself to the floor and cried out for help, Irina showed up, yelling, “How dare you hi a pregnant woman!” like I’d beaten Tatiana to a pulp when all I’d done was return a slap.

I was going to ignore her and leave, but she lurched forward and tried to slap me.

I knew Tatiana was just a cover-up.

Irina was trying to get back at me for the last time I’d slapped her, and she thought she’d finally gotten the opportunity.

Too bad she didn’t.

“The next time you try to hit me,” I seethed, poking my finger against Irina’s shoulder, “me pulling your hair is going to be the least of your worries.”

Her eyes flared, but she slammed her mouth shut and dropped her gaze to the floor, refusing to say a word.

Of course, she couldn’t.

Alvise had just walked away after scolding Tatiana for hitting me.

Butterflies fluttered in my stomach at the memory. Though I kept telling myself the reason I was flushed was because he’d made it clear no one had the right to hit me, what I really couldn’t stop thinking about was his reply to Tatiana’s question.

Or rather, his lack of an answer.

She’d asked him if he’d wanted to marry me all along, and instead of giving her a verbal response, he simply walked away.

“I know this is just temporary.”

I looked around to see Tatiana glaring at me, her hands balled into fists.

“I’m going to get the Pakhan back, sooner or later,” she promised, a dark smile coating her lips. “So enjoy your time with him now, but I’ll advise you to start packing up.”

I sighed, turning around and walking away. “While you keep waiting for the day that’ll never come, I’ll be praying you get your sanity back.”

I heard her mumble a reply, but I was too busy heading to my bedroom to care.

My bedroom.

Rinned By My Brother’s Best Friend

I stopped in front of the door, nodding at the guards as I took a deep breath and exhaled slowly.

ow was I going to face him?

For some awkward reason, I knocked, ignoring the curious looks the guards shot my way.

Seconds passed, and then I knocked again, over and over until the doorknob turned and the door was pulled open.

I held my breath the moment Alvise came into view, the sight of his dress shirt unbuttoned/halfway and his tie hanging loosely making him look even more attractive.

“Hi,” I whispered softly.

Blue eyes narrowed as he watched me intently. “Why did you knock? The door was unlocked.”

“I know.”

He raised a brow, shook his head, and then turned on his heel, leaving me standing at the door.

Clearing my throat, I walked into the room and shut the door behind me. “You were supposed to say come in,” I mumbled, following him into the closet.

The large space immediately felt smaller than it usually did, and I didn’t need to think far to know it was because of the man sharing the space with me.
