Read Arabella and Alvise novel Chapter 298
Rumed By My Brother’s Best Friend
Whenever You Want
ARABELLA’S POV
I squinted my eyes, my lips parting in shock as I processed her words, repeated them over and over again. in my head, and then waited patiently to see if they made any sense.
They didn’t.
In fact, I’d never heard of anything more ridiculous.
Me? Having an affair with… her fiancé? That same man who had a weird smile and looked like sin itself
I didn’t even know him.
“Are you okay?” I asked, genuinely concerned as I looked her up and down, trying to make sure she wasn’t mentally deranged.
She had to be, because just this morning, I met Rashell, and they seemed to be on the same wavelength.
“I asked you a question,” Miss Alonzo snapped, her nostrils flaring. “Just answer it and stop deviating.”
“I’m trying to figure out what I should address first,” I retorted, folding my arms and narrowing my eyes. “The fact that you gathered up the audacity to walk up to me, a stranger you’ve never met before, and accuse me of having an affair with your fiancé, also someone I’ve never met before… or the fact that you actually believe what you’re saying… that you really think I’ve had anything to do with that man!”
“Then why does he keep looking at you?” she snapped, the veins in her neck protruding as she spoke. “We’ve been in this damn store for almost an hour, and he wouldn’t take his eyes off you!”
I furrowed my brows, surprised by the information.
I’d not noticed him looking at me. In fact, I’d not seen him since we got into the store.
“Why don’t you ask him? I mean, he’s your fiancé, not mine, so why do you need to get your answer from me?”
“If you’ve hooked up,” she sneered, running her hands through her hair, “just say it! Because that’s the only reason he’d be looking at you.”
She was implying that the only way I’d be worthy of being stared at was if I’d slept with her fiancé.
Rude.
I scoffed, shaking my head. “You have a lot of attitude for someone who’s so insecure. Since you’re so perfect, why does he need to hook up with other people?”
I didn’t wait for a reply.
I moved past her, my sour mood worse than it had been when I showed up at the store.
I wanted to leave. Now.
“Any problem, madam?” Igor asked, looking behind me as I approached them. “That looked pretty heated.”
“It was,” I mumbled absentmindedly before glancing around. “Where’s he?”
“The Pakhan?” one of the guards asked, raising a brow.
I gave him a blank look. “Who else would I be asking for?”
I was more irritable than usual today, and a part of me felt bad for snapping at the guard like that, but really, who else would I want to look for?
He cleared his throat and glanced at Igor. “Do you know where he is?”
He nodded. “Follow me, madam.”
We walked through the store all the way to the reception, and I felt Alvise’s presence before I saw him.
He stood tall, leaning against the wall with his ankles crossed as he spoke on the phone, his jaw clenched and the sharp edges of his face even sharper.
I was pissed at the man, but looking at him from the distance between us, I was reminded of how attractive he was, even when he was obviously irritated.
I heard giggling and looked to the side to see a group of female staff, all flushed as they stared at him.
I bit my lip and sighed.
