Read Arabella and Alvise novel Chapter 63
pair of intense blue eyes stared at me, his face stoic as he stood there with one hand tucked into his pocket.
He was wearing plain jeans and a white T-shirt, the fabric stretching over the hard lines of his sculpted muscles beneath it.
The corner of his lips tipped up, though his expression remained unreadable when he walked inside. As he passed me. he stopped just close enough for me to hear him whisper, “You really do stare a lot.”
Then he left me standing there.
I blinked, my brain taking its sweet time to process his words before I shut the door and turned on my heel. He was now seated on the single armchair, and while I’d heard Francesca greet him, I hadn’t heard his response.
I smoothed a hand over my flowery mini sundress and walked back to my spot on the couch just as Archie returned to the living room with a huge bowl of snacks in his hands.
“Your house is basically a warehouse for junk food,” I teased as he dropped the bowl onto the coffee table, though I still reached for a chocolate bar.
Archie slapped my hand away. “You’re not taking anything from this bowl,” he said, snatching the chocolate bar from my
hand.
I frowned. “And what did I do to deserve such a fate?”
Archie smiled smugly. “You’re still recovering.”
I rolled my eyes and groaned in frustration. “What’s with the dramatics, Archie? I’m perfectly fine.”
“Debatable,” Alvise chimed in, though there wasn’t a trace of humor in his voice.
Archie turned to his friend. “And where have you been, man? I called you nonstop.”
I bit my lip, waiting patiently to hear Alvise’s reply. I wanted to know where he’d suddenly disappeared to.
“I’ve been working,” he said simply, leaning back in the chair as he stroked his chin.
Disappointment washed over me, making me sink farther into the couch, a faint frown tugging at my lips.
Heat prickled across my skin, the tiny hairs on my body standing on end. I knew immediately that he was looking at me.
I turned toward him, my stomach fluttering as our eyes locked. He held my gaze for a long moment before his eyes slowly drifted over my face. Then one brow lifted.
Beside me, Francesca cleared her throat, snapping me out of the trance.
I turned toward her, only to find her eyes fixed on Alvise, while I could still feel the weight of his gaze lingering on my skin.
I refused to look back at him, afraid Francesca would use whatever she noticed as ammunition against me.
“Alvise… You’re engaged, right?” she asked, twirling a strand of hair around her finger. “When’s the wedding?”
The mention of his engagement soured my mood instantly, my shoulders sagging beneath the weight of it.
I recovered quickly and straightened my posture.
Archie chimed in. “Yeah, that’s true.” He looked at Alvise. “You haven’t really talked about it. Is there a date yet?”

Alvise’s eyes remained on me, and I shifted beneath the intensity of his gaze. “Not yet,” he replied.
