Holding his gaze, I whispered, “I. Don’t. Care.” Then I pulled my hands from around his neck, shoved him out of my space, and jumped off the stool before grabbing my glass of juice, and walking out of the kitchen without sparing him another
If he wanted to be a tease… I could be a damn good tease too.
I returned to the living room, but froze when I found my brother making out with Francesca.
If there were bleach strong enough to scrub that memory from my brain, I would’ve used it immediately.
Instead, all I could do was gag. The sound was loud enough for both of them to snap their heads toward me.
Archie buried his face in his hands, clearly embarrassed. Francesca, on the other hand, looked like I’d just keyed her can
She was furious.
I didn’t need a fortune teller to tell me why. Ignoring her murderous glare, I glanced at my brother. “Archie… if I wanted to watch adult content, I’d do it in my own apartment.”
My brother rose to his feet, a blush creeping across his cheeks. “You weren’t supposed to see that,” he muttered, scratching the back of his head. “And stop being so dramatic. It was just a kiss.” He raised a finger to warn me. “Oh and no adult conten You must not watch any of that.”
I took a sip of my juice before walking back to my spot on the couch. “Then let me go back to my apartment.”
He sat down in the armchair and narrowed his eyes. “Is that what this is about, Arabella? Why are you so eager to go back to your apartment?”
I looked away, avoiding his gaze. “Why are you being so serious?”

He rested his elbows on his knees. “I’m trying to understand why you don’t want to stay with me.” He gritted his teeth, a muscle ticking in his jaw. “The only explanation that makes any sense is that there’s a man you’re trying to hide from.”
If not for the awkwardness of the situation, and the deep scowl on my brother’s face, I would’ve thrown my head back and laughed.
“Why would that even concern you?” I asked, glaring at him. “I’m not a child.”
Archie shook his head. “That’s exactly what a child would say.”
“Oh, for goodness’ sake,” I rasped, rolling my eyes. “Somebody come get my brother and Oscar” I scrunched my nose. “You’re so dramatic it’s ridiculous.”
Archie shot me a sharp look, and I returned one of my own. Just like that, we were locked in another silent face-off, exactly the way we used to be as kids.
Francesca’s sudden gasp broke my stare with my brother. “Arabella?” she squeaked. “You really have a boyfriend!”
I frowned, wondering why she’d suddenly inserted herself into the conversation.
Then I saw him. Alvise stood leaning against the wall at the entrance to the living room, his expression unreadable as his

Francesca knew exactly what she was doing.
