Chapter 24 Don’t Beg Me to Give You a Baby

Thalia sat up in bed. With her makeup washed off, her delicate face looked soft and supple, and she stared at him with a cool, indifferent gaze. “What? Kiera got her feelings hurt, and now, you’re here to fight her battles?”

“If it weren’t for you, how could Grandma dislike Kiera so much? She keeps making Kiera’s life difficult, all because of you.” Alden let out a cold laugh before adding, “Thalia, you really will stop at nothing just to get my attention.”

Thalia’s grip tightened on the bestsheet, but her eyes only grew colder. “Everyone in the Crestfall residence knows what tricks Kiera used to marry Aaron. As for why Grandma doesn’t like her–please, you know better than I do. And I have nothing to do with it.”

Alden’s voice was full of mockery. “How does it have nothing to do with you? If you hadn’t kept running to Grandma, whining about how I shouldn’t help Aaron take care of Kiera, Grandma wouldn’t have grown more and more hostile toward

her.

“Sure, Grandma didn’t like her before. But for the baby’s sake, she never went this far. Now, Kiera’s so upset that she nearly lost the child. And if you hadn’t been fanning the flames behind the scenes, why would Grandma act like this?

“I think Tyren coming back made you feel like you’ve got a powerful ally now. Suddenly, you think you can do whatever you want. Thalia, I’m warning you–I don’t buy your act one bit. Stop playing hard–to–get to try and get me.”

Thalia stared at him with a blank expression. Her calm demeanor only made Alden look more vicious by comparison.

Suddenly, she decided to test him. She said bluntly, “You’re my husband. And because of Kiera, you storm in here in the middle of the night, blaming me for this and that.

“Alden, who is your wife? Or did you spend so long taking care of Kiera after Aaron died that you started thinking you were her husband?”

As expected, Alden’s expression changed, and his voice softened immediately. “Don’t start imagining things. I’m only taking care of her for Aaron’s sake. There’s nothing between us. Our relationship is pure and innocent.”

Nothing between them? Pure and innocent? Thalia almost laughed out loud, but she kept her expression cold. “I’m tired. I want to sleep. Get out.”

Her attitude set him off, and he snapped, “Is this about me missing our anniversary? Come on. It’s already been days. Just drop it already.”

“Get out!” Thalia didn’t want to waste her breath.

Stunned by her ferocity, Alden froze. Then, he recovered, gritting his teeth and pointing at her. “Thalia, you’re getting bold. You really dare to talk to me like this now.”

Thalia lay back down and turned her back to him.

“Fine. Keep throwing a tantrum. Let’s see how long you can keep it up! Just don’t come crawling into my bed later, begging me to give you a baby!” With that, Alden slammed the door and left.

A bitter smile tugged at Thalia’s lips.

Ultimately, it was the old her who had spoiled him into thinking he could still treat her like this. He actually believed she was throwing a tantrum, and that once she was done, she’d throw away her pride and crawl back to him!

Too bad. This time, he could keep waiting.

The next morning, at the office, Thalia received a video call from Tyren. He was sitting in an office, wearing a white shirt. Morning sunlight poured over him, making him look warm and refined.
