She Left a Loser and Married a Legend novel Chapter 23

Chapter 23 Who Dares Touch Lia

Thalia returned to the Crestfall residence at around 9:00 pm. She hadn’t even stepped inside when she heard shouting coming from the living room.

Josephine was complaining loudly, Mom, what exactly did Kiera do for you to be so mad at her? It’s already been more than six months. The baby’s already formed. If anything happens, that’s a real human life we’re talking about.

Alden’s voice followed, restrained but simmering with anger. Grandma, just talk calmly. The doctor said she’s showing signs of miscarriage. If she doesn’t take it easy, both she and the baby are at risk.

Henrietta snorted coldly. Why don’t you ask her yourself just what she did?

Kiera’s eyes were brimming with tears, and she looked delicate and pitiful. Pregnancy is hard. My hormones are a mess. I didn’t mean to upset you, Henrietta.

You didn’t mean to?Henrietta smacked the table, then called for the household staff to report what happened.

Thalia stood at the door, listening, and finally pieced it together. Apparently, Henrietta had come home that morning and didn’t see Thalia. She casually asked Kiera where Thalia was, but Kiera snapped back at her impatiently. Henrietta scolded her for her attitude.

Kiera immediately phoned Alden, exaggerating everything and painting Henrietta as the villain. Then, she bled a little because she’d worked herself up and apparently had been a little too active with Alden that morning. When Josephine heard, she dropped everything and rushed home to argue with Henrietta.

Come here, Cutie.Thalia walked in and spotted Cutie hiding in a corner, playing with toys. She bent down and scooped the dog into her arms.

When Josephine saw Thalia, she immediately redirected all her frustration toward her. Out all night yesterday and coming home late today. Mom, this is the daughterinlaw you’re so protective of. She’s getting out of control.

Henrietta ignored her and smiled at Thalia. Have you eaten? I kept some soup warm on the stove for you. I’ll have Sheila bring you a bowl.

Meanwhile, Kiera’s big, glittering teardrops spilled over dramatically. She bolted upstairs while crying her eyes out.

Kiera, slow down! Watch the baby!Josephine anxiously reminded her. But Kiera didn’t listen and continued sprinting up the staircase.

Josephine immediately turned to Alden. Go check on her! We can’t let anything happen to that baby. That is the only grandchild the Crestfalls have coming, and we must keep him safe.

Alden didn’t even spare Thalia a glance. He just scoffed and went upstairs.

Josephine also shot Thalia a hateful glare. If anything happens to the child in Kiera’s belly, don’t expect anyone to save you.

Don’t you dare!Henrietta roared. As long as I’m alive, no one will so much as lay a finger on Lia!

She then led Thalia toward the dining room. Let’s have some soup. Ignore them.

In this house, the only warmth Thalia ever felt came from Henrietta. When she finally left this place, Henrietta would be the only person she’d miss.

Grandma, please don’t get upset because of me. I don’t need anything. I just want you to be healthy and live a long, peaceful life.

Henrietta smiled. Yes, yes. I’ll live a long life. I still have to protect you for many years. She then started talking about babies again, and Thalia, not wanting to make her sad, promised she’d try.

Upstairs, the crying continued nonstop. Henrietta asked Thalia to ignore it and insisted she drink every drop of soup. They
