Melanie glanced at Bryant, whose smile was a bit strained.
Was this Valentine's really a holiday?
Yes.
But...
It wasn't exactly a holiday meant for children.
Melanie watched Bryant for a moment before looking away.
She could tell he had deliberately told Elina it was a special day.
He was using her fondness for Elina to ask her out for the Valentine's.
While this tactic lowered her opinion of him somewhat, it wasn't a matter of principle.
They spent a good while watching the musical fountain in the square, and Melanie and Elina had a wonderful time.
One moment they were dancing around playfully, the next they were splashing in the water. It was as if Melanie wasn't an adult, but a child the same age as Elina.
Bryant stood to the side, a gentle smile on his face, feeling both happy and anxious.
He was afraid of upsetting Melanie.
Someone as smart as her would surely see through his intentions.
Bryant had to admit, he wasn't a good person.
He knew perfectly well that Melanie was married, yet he was still racking his brain for ways to get closer to her, even wishing he could sabotage her marriage and make her get a divorce.
Bryant knew that to Melanie, he was just a friend.
Or not even a friend—just a colleague.
That's why he could only use Elina as a pretext.
He was using his own daughter.
He knew how despicable it was, but he had no other choice.
Because he was in love with Melanie.
