She Quit Her Family and Found Herself novel Chapter 149

This was a side of Hulda he had never seen before...

He had always acknowledged that she was beautiful, there was no denying that.

But she was also lifeless—like a stagnant pool of water, dull and incredibly uninteresting. It got to the point where her beauty simply faded into the background.

But in this moment, Herbert had to admit it: with a single glance, he was utterly captivated by her elegance and radiance.

Sylvie stared at her in complete and utter shock. It was the same face, yet she looked like an entirely different person.

Sylvie instantly recognized the designer label on Hulda's clothes—it was easily ten times more expensive than her own outfit.

But that wasn't even the worst part. The diamond brooch pinned to Hulda's lapel was blindingly brilliant, casting a soft, radiant glow across her porcelain skin.

Standing in the same room, Sylvie suddenly felt washed out, almost entirely insignificant by comparison.

Why?

She had clearly seen Hulda leave the mall empty-handed that day!

Where did this outfit and that brooch come from? A custom look of that caliber was impossible to source in just a day or two.

Even the suit Sylvie was wearing had taken three days to be shipped from out of state.

Sylvie bit her lip so hard it nearly bled, her eyes boring holes into Hulda. When she glanced over at Herbert and saw that he was staring at Hulda without blinking, her heart sank straight to the bottom of her stomach.

Was she planning on causing a massive scene right here in front of everyone?

Sylvie panicked too. She was terrified Hulda would throw a hysterical tantrum and make her the laughingstock of the industry.

"Hulda, please stop this. This isn't a fashion show for women to compete with each other. A pretty dress doesn't make you better than anyone else. Please stop trying to embarrass Mr. Jewell. The launch is starting any second, just leave!"

Herbert's grip tightened painfully on her wrist. His eyes were venomous, all traces of his earlier awe entirely gone. His voice was a lethal, hushed warning. "Get out of here right now, do you hear me?! If you don't, I'm going to make you regret it!"

"And how exactly do you plan on making her regret it, Mr. Jewell?"

Caspian Sterling appeared seemingly out of nowhere. Standing half a head taller than Herbert, he looked down at him with an imposing, glacial authority. "Go ahead. I'd love to hear it."
