She Quit Her Family and Found Herself novel Chapter 204

The next day's Q&A session was held in the large conference room of the institute's administrative building, led by a designated moderator.

By the time Hulda wrapped up her current tasks and arrived, the meeting was already drawing to a close.

As the Director of the R&D Center, she briefly answered two questions, gave a short closing statement, and the session officially concluded.

The corporate representatives filed out in an orderly fashion. Hulda stayed at the front, checking in with the researcher who had moderated the session and quickly reviewing the meeting notes.

"Hulda Atherton." Herbert's voice rang out suddenly from behind her.

Hulda paused her reading, frowned, and turned to face his stern, unsmiling expression.

"Excuse me, representative, but the session has ended. All bidding-related inquiries were just addressed. Do you still have lingering questions?" A researcher stepped forward, looking at Herbert sternly. "If you do, you can ask me. There's no need to bother Director Atherton."

The researcher's entirely professional, slightly dismissive attitude made Herbert choke on his words. Feeling the stares of the other lingering corporate reps, his expression turned ugly.

At first, when Hulda wasn't present at the start of the meeting, Sylvie had breathed a quiet sigh of relief.

She hadn't expected Hulda to show up right at the end.

Fortunately, it ended quickly. She assumed that once it was over, Herbert would just leave with her.

But the moment she turned around to grab her bag, Herbert was already striding toward the front of the room to confront his ex-wife.

Sylvie gripped her bag straps tightly and quickly hurried after him.

Hulda gave Herbert a dismissive glance and remained silent. She handed the meeting files back and said to the researcher, "Since we're done here, I'll be heading out."

With that, she turned to leave the conference room.

She was leaving for the mountainous region soon, and she still had a mountain of tasks to delegate before then.

Or was he dumping Miles on her temporarily?

"Fine."

Since she was the boy's mother, she wanted to know what Herbert had to say.

Instead of leaving the room, she took a few steps forward and positioned herself directly beneath the conference room's main security camera.

The camera not only recorded video, but it captured audio as well.

By doing this, she distanced them from the remaining crowd in the room while protecting herself from future trouble. If anyone tried to accuse her of private collusion with Herbert, she'd have video and audio evidence to prove otherwise.

Of course, this was purely to prevent gossip.
