Hulda nonchalantly walked past Valery's group, not stopping for a moment or even sparing them a single glance.
Seeing Hulda, the smile on Valery's face froze for a second, her gaze turning cold and heavy.
Only after watching Hulda walk entirely past them did she slowly retract her gaze, acting as if nothing happened as she continued chatting with the women around her.
"Mrs. Owen's niece is incredibly rude. Walking right past us without even saying hello?" Mrs. Gower mocked, staring at Hulda's retreating back. Clearly, she was still holding a grudge from when Hulda had talked back to her earlier.
Other women immediately chimed in. "Mrs. Owen is vulgar, so how could her niece be any better? She made such a grand entrance bringing her here, only to make them both look like a joke."
"Haha, exactly. They're just embarrassing themselves together," Mrs. Gower laughed, her eyes crinkling in delight.
Valery let out a cold scoff. Her entire demeanor suggested that even commenting on Joanna was beneath her, let alone mentioning someone like Hulda.
As long as Hulda didn't cause a scene and ruin today's event, Valery could force herself to pretend the woman didn't exist.
She coldly pulled her gaze away and turned to look at Sylvie.
Noticing that Sylvie was frowning slightly, her eyes glued to the direction Hulda had disappeared, Valery assumed she was worried Hulda might go crazy again or try to bully her.
Valery gently patted Sylvie's hand with complete composure, using her eyes to soothe the younger woman's anxiety.
She had already given Hulda a warning. Regardless of what dirty tricks Hulda had used to latch onto Joanna, as long as she stayed quiet today, Valery would let it slide. But if Hulda stepped even one toe out of line, she shouldn't blame Valery for completely disregarding whatever little sentiment was left from their past seven years.
Sylvie offered Valery a sweet smile, but internally, her heart hadn't stopped racing since the moment she laid eyes on Hulda.
Why on earth are you here, Hulda? And why are you dressed up so beautifully?
Is it for Herbert?
Originally, Herbert was supposed to come with them this morning. But right before they left, he got a sudden call from the CEO of Zenith Data asking for a last-minute meeting.
So Herbert went to meet the CEO, promising to rush over to the academy if the meeting ended early.
