She Quit Her Family and Found Herself novel Chapter 278

Before Hulda even left the sanatorium grounds, her phone rang. It was Sienna Lowe.

The girl had just finished her college entrance exams and was riding high. She had scored two vouchers for a five-star hotel buffet but couldn't find anyone to go with her.

Desperate, she called Hulda to see if she'd be willing.

Since Hulda had no plans for the evening and hadn't seen the kid in a while, she happily agreed.

They still had some time before they were supposed to meet. Going all the way home and heading back out seemed like a hassle, so Hulda popped into a bookstore near the hotel.

She picked out a few books to bring with her on the mountain trip.

With time still to kill, she thought about sitting in the reading area, but being the weekend, every seat was taken.

After doing a lap and finding nowhere to sit, she grabbed her purchases and headed straight to the hotel.

Settling into the lobby lounge, she ordered a drink and quietly began to read.

Sometime later, the faint scent of a delicate perfume drifted by. From the corner of her eye, she noticed a well-dressed young woman take a seat not far from her.

When the server came over, the young woman glanced at Hulda's table. "I'll have whatever she's having."

Hulda looked up, locking eyes with the girl. Guessing she was also waiting for someone, Hulda offered a polite nod and a faint smile before returning to her book.

Over at the hotel entrance, Justin Jameson marched through the doors looking thoroughly irritated. His phone was pressed to his ear, projecting his mother's endless nagging. "You aren't getting any younger! Even Herbert got divorced and remarried, and you still haven't managed to hold down a steady relationship. I don't care what you say—you are meeting this girl today. If you blow this, don't even bother calling me your mother!"

"Alright, alright, I get it!" Justin's scowl was deep enough to trap a fly. He dragged his feet across the lobby, inching toward the lounge area.

"Stop saying you get it and tell me where you are! Are you there yet? The poor girl has been waiting for ages!" Mrs. Jameson pressed eagerly.
