The mother rolled her eyes playfully, then offered Hulda an apologetic smile. "I'm so sorry. My two troublemakers go crazy the moment we step out. Did they hurt you?"
Hulda shook her head. "It's completely fine."
It had just been a light bump; it didn't hurt at all.
"That's good, that's good." The mother smiled politely, then turned to her husband and daughter. "You two, apologize one more time!"
As soon as the words left her mouth, the father and daughter apologized to Hulda again in unison.
The man's deep voice mixed with the little girl's sweet, high-pitched tone. With the girl still sitting on her dad's shoulders, the two of them bowed their heads together. The sight was as adorable as it was heartwarming.
"Mommy, we apologized! Can we go to the Adventure Zone now?" the little girl asked.
Both father and daughter looked at the mother expectantly. She sighed with a smile and nodded. "Go ahead."
Laughing and shouting, the duo ran off toward the play area.
The mother gave Hulda one last apologetic smile. "I really can't do anything with them. Sorry again."
Hulda shook her head, watching the mother hurry after them. Then, the happy family of three disappeared into the Adventure Zone.
She stood rooted to the spot, gazing after them, unable to snap out of her daze for a long time.
Actually, when she was a child, she had really liked the Adventure Zone too. But she had never been allowed to play inside; she had only watched from afar a few times.
Seeing those kids playing to their hearts' content with their parents right there by their side, she used to feel incredibly envious.
But what she envied wasn't the chance to play inside—it was the fact that those children had their parents with them.
When she was little, the only person who had frequently been by her side was Dobbs Sterling's butler. But the butler never played with her. He merely followed Dobbs's orders, arranging endless classes for her.
