She Quit Her Family and Found Herself novel Chapter 299

Saying that, Cora pulled Miles into her arms and smiled brightly. "Isn't that right, Miles?"

"What is, Aunt Cora?" The little boy had been playing by himself and hadn't caught the conversation between his aunt and grandmother.

Cora affectionately pinched his chubby cheek. "Do you love Sylvie?"

Miles didn't hesitate for a second. "Yes, I love her the most."

Shooting a triumphant look at Valery, Cora turned back to the boy. "And is your real mom an ungrateful backstabber?"

Miles paused at the question.

"Aunt Cora, what does that mean?"

"It means someone who turns against the people who helped them. Someone who burns bridges," Cora explained in terms a child could grasp. "Like, when you treat someone really well, but they hurt you in return. People like that are ungrateful backstabbers."

Miles thought about it for a moment, then nodded emphatically. "Yes! My mom is an ungrateful backstabber!"

Sylvie was always so nice to him and to everyone else, but his mom always bullied Sylvie and even put her in the hospital. She was definitely a backstabber.

And he had even called her and asked her to come back, but she refused.

So yes, his mom was a backstabber!

Cora looked back at Valery. "See, Mom? Even Miles knows what she really is."

"Who's a backstabber?"

Herbert and Wade had crossed paths at the entrance, and the father-son duo walked in just in time to hear Cora's accusation.
