Sylvie looked at Herbert with sheer bewilderment. She quickly pulled out her phone and displayed the transfer notification for everyone to see. "It's true, I only received fifty thousand."
Stung by Wade's harsh scolding, she was desperate to prove she wasn't some cheap, penny-pinching woman withholding a nanny's wages.
The absolute truth was that she had only been given fifty thousand.
Now, it was Valery and Wade's turn to stare disapprovingly at Herbert.
Wade's scowl deepened. "Herbert, are you really only giving your wife a budget of fifty thousand a month?"
Even Valery, who usually defended her son to the death, couldn't justify this. "Herbert, we may not be old money billionaires, but we certainly don't limit our wives to fifty thousand a month. Between the live-in nanny, the housekeepers, and basic daily expenses, there's absolutely nothing left over."
Just as Sylvie was breathing a sigh of relief—having successfully cleared her name and proven the budget truly wasn't enough—Herbert's next words froze the blood in her veins.
"But I explicitly told Victor to transfer two hundred and fifty thousand every month."
"Two hundred and fifty thousand?" Sylvie's eyes went wide with shock. Assuming she had misheard him, she asked, "Did you say two hundred and fifty thousand?"
Herbert nodded, his eyes darkening. "Yes. Hulda's budget used to be two hundred thousand a month. I told Victor to add an extra fifty thousand for you, making it two hundred and fifty thousand."
Hearing that her actual allowance was supposed to be a staggering two hundred and fifty thousand, Sylvie's heart began to hammer wildly against her ribs.
