She Quit Her Family and Found Herself novel Chapter 310

At the project guesthouse.

Whatever relaxed mood Hulda had been in was entirely obliterated by Herbert's phone call.

The knocking on her door continued, now carrying a hint of impatience.

Then came Caspian's commanding tone. "Hulda. Open the door!"

Hulda rolled her eyes so hard they almost got stuck.

It was the middle of the night. Why was every man in her life being so insufferable?

Fuming, she marched over and yanked the door open. The first thing she saw was Caspian’s tall frame leaning casually against the doorframe.

She had to tilt her head back just to meet his eyes.

The man looked down at her through half-lidded eyes. "Took you long enough. I thought you died in there."

Already in a foul mood, the comment only made her chest tighter.

"Sorry to disappoint," she gritted out.

But remembering that he had generously donated funds to renovate the local mountain school earlier today, she forced herself to swallow her rage. "Can I help you with something, Mr. Sterling?"

You better have a damn good reason for this, her tone implied.

Seeing her literally grinding her teeth, Caspian's lips curled up, his eyes crinkling in amusement. "I'm hungry."

Hulda's face went blank.

When she was on the phone, she had vaguely heard him say he was hungry, but she assumed she had misheard.

Surely a grown man wouldn't aggressively pound on her door in the dead of night over something so trivial.

Couldn't he find his own food?

"If you're hungry, go find something to eat. Why are you bothering me?"

"I couldn't find anything." He said it with utter shamelessness.

Hulda let out a humorless laugh. "Then call your assistant!"
