Hearing this, the team from the institute let out a collective sigh of relief.
They knew their director wouldn't have such terrible taste in men.
Desmond, Zane, and the others also found Hulda's words perfectly logical. An outstanding woman like her definitely had no shortage of equally exceptional suitors. Why would she ever settle for someone like Julian?
"No! She's lying!" Julian suddenly jumped in, his voice rising in fierce denial.
Desmond felt deeply embarrassed just facing Hulda and her team. He snapped at Julian, "Will you shut your mouth!"
Instead of complying, Julian grew even more agitated under the strange, judging stares of the crowd.
He lunged aggressively toward Hulda, forcing Desmond and Zane to quickly physically restrain him.
Struggling against them, Julian yelled at Hulda, "Why are you lying?! Why won't you admit you love me?!"
Before Hulda could even process the absurdity, Desmond spoke for her, exasperated. "Director Atherton is busy every single day. What on earth did she do to make you think she likes you?"
Julian's chest heaved rapidly as he pointed a shaking finger at Hulda. "The very first time she saw me, she smiled! Would a woman smile at a male stranger for no reason?! If that isn't love at first sight, what is?!"
Hulda was left entirely speechless.
"That time I went to the town's primary school to look for Katherine. I couldn't find her and was about to leave when I ran into you. I thought you were a teacher at the school, so I gave you a polite nod and smiled."
Hulda looked at Julian with utter seriousness, ensuring her words were heard not just by him, but by everyone present. "My smile was simply basic courtesy and manners. I would have smiled exactly the same way at anyone else in that situation."
The crowd had already felt something was off the moment Julian made his claim.
Hearing Hulda's explanation confirmed it—everything was entirely a product of Julian's narcissistic delusions.
