She Quit Her Family and Found Herself novel Chapter 324

"Director Atherton, this..." Desmond instinctively wanted to plead for Julian, but seeing Hulda's dead-serious expression and Julian's unhinged state, he swallowed his words.

If this really went down on paper, Julian and his mother were absolutely guilty of causing a public disturbance. If pushed further, it could even be classified as violent coercion of marriage.

It wasn't until Hulda explicitly demanded the police that Julian and Brenda finally grasped the gravity of the situation.

"Why are you calling the cops?! We just came to propose! If you don't agree, fine. You just don't have the luck to join the Thorne family. Is calling the police really necessary?" Brenda shrieked, clutching Julian's arm like an angry hen.

Julian's eyes were dark, his fists clenched tightly as he glared at Hulda with bloodshot eyes.

Hulda had zero interest in entertaining them further and insisted on pressing charges.

"You!" Furious, Julian tried to lunge forward again, only to be held back firmly by Desmond and Zane.

The scene instantly dissolved into chaos.

It wasn't until the police finally arrived and hauled away the Thorne mother-son duo, along with the locals who had helped them instigate the fight, that the situation stabilized.

Ultimately, Julian was held in custody for public disturbance.

Due to her age and the fact that she was easily influenced by her son's delusions, Brenda was let off with a stern warning. After writing a formal letter of apology, she was released.

As for the other locals, since they were merely incited by the Thornes, their offenses were minor. Seeing their genuine remorse, Hulda chose not to pursue charges, and they were let go after receiving a severe reprimand.

By the time Hulda stepped out of the police station, the entire morning was gone.

"Unbelievable. We wasted a whole morning because of those psychos," Abby grumbled. She then looked at Hulda. "Director, I've only ever seen entitled creeps like that on TV. I can't believe they exist in real life. A girl gives him a polite smile and a generic compliment, and he's convinced she's madly in love with him? It's absurd!"

It was the first time Hulda had encountered someone like this, too.

Fortunately, she had her institute colleagues with her today. If she had been entirely alone, dealing with that mess would have been much more difficult.

"The way Julian's mother looked at the station was terrifying. Her face was practically twisted." Abby shuddered, recalling Brenda's glare. "I bet she still doesn't think she did anything wrong. Making her write an apology letter was way too light of a punishment."
