The wine splashed all over Vivienne, the scarlet liquid trailing down her slender neck.
The stark contrast of the red against her pale skin gave her an eerie, twisted kind of beauty.
She crouched down, her long fingers pinching a shard of broken glass.
She had pissed him off again. For some reason, making him angry always put her in a fantastic mood.
It even gave her a sick sense of thrill.

First thing the next morning, Shera received an evening gown delivered by Rhys.
It was a flawlessly tailored, strapless black mermaid dress, complete with a set of custom jewelry.
Standing nearby, Xenia gasped, covering her mouth as she admired the dress.
"Oh my god, look at the feathers."
Shera lifted the gown. The hem was shorter in the front and longer in the back, with plush feathers cascading diagonally from the right shoulder down to the waistline, blooming into rich layers at the train.
"It's stunning."
Xenia popped open the jewelry box next—a breathtaking set of black onyx pieces.
Cold, regal, and fiercely intimidating.
"Shera, I can't even imagine how gorgeous you're going to look in this. You're going to be a total black swan."
It was impossible to guess how many people would be dropping to their knees for her tonight.
"Oh, wait!"
Remembering something, she sprinted up the stairs.
A moment later, she came back down hugging a shoebox.
"This is my secret weapon. I've been saving these; I haven't even worn them yet."
She opened the box to reveal a pair of matching, obviously exorbitant heels.
They featured a faux crocodile texture with sheer side cutouts, iconic red diamond-encrusted soles, and a chic golden clasp on the outer edge.
Shera held one up to examine it, smiling faintly. "Aren't these a little too high?"
They had to be at least four inches tall.
Xenia insisted, "You need the height for the aura! You've got to stomp all over that little bitch Helga's ego the second you walk in."
"You are going to drop jaws tonight. Those two men won't be able to look away. And then, they'll end up brawling over you."
His dark hair was styled with effortless volume, a few loose strands falling casually across his forehead.
He looked aristocratic, yet effortlessly laid-back.
Helga wore a champagne-colored strapless gown. Her long hair cascaded down her back like a waterfall, her lips curved into a smile that showed off her striking dimples.
Caden walked around the car, his fingers buttoning his jacket.
"Caden."
Helga stepped up and looped her arm through his, gazing up at the impossibly handsome man beside her.
No matter how many times she looked at that face, she was always captivated.
Caden let her hold his arm, his expression completely blank.
Helga handed their invitation to the attendant.
After verifying their identities, the attendant bowed and gestured them forward. "Right this way, Mr. Hayes. Ms. Sutton."
Caden gave a curt nod.
Just as he was about to walk in, the glare of headlights caught his eye.
He frowned slightly, turning his head. The sight of the two figures stepping out of the newly arrived car made his expression darken.
