She Turned Her Grief Into Wings novel Chapter 167

Seeing this, Tessa's heart leaped with absolute joy.

If she could use this opportunity to spark something with Caden tonight, that would be even better.

He actually remembered her name so clearly and even let her sit next to him.

She always knew Caden had feelings for her. It was just that the wicked woman had gotten to him first.

If it weren't for her, she would have married him ages ago.

Thrilled, Tessa tilted her head back and downed the entire glass of liquor, not leaving a single drop.

She raised her empty glass toward Caden, gesturing that she had finished it.

“Impressive tolerance, Ms. Tyson.”

Tessa let out a shy, tinkling laugh. Just looking at his handsome face was a treat.

Caden's face was devoid of expression. He waved a server over, pointing a finger at the bottle of Martell Cognac in the center of the table.

“I wonder if Ms. Tyson can handle the hard stuff?”

Tessa looked at the bottle of imported liquor and instinctively sucked in a breath. Though a wave of dread washed over her, she braced herself and nodded.

“Y-Yes, I can.”

Caden tipped his chin in a clear command.

The server opened the bottle and initially poured less than half a glass. Seeing no reaction from Caden, he added a bit more.

It wasn't until the glass was more than half full that Caden slowly raised a hand to stop him.

Tessa reached for the glass, condensation clinging to the sides, and slowly brought it to her lips.

The strong scent hit her instantly, stinging her eyes.

The spicy burn assaulted her tongue, but with the man watching her, she pinched her nose and chugged it down.

When the glass was empty again, Caden nodded in satisfaction.

“I never knew you had such an impressive capacity.”

Tessa grabbed a bottle of water to wash down the bitter taste in her mouth, then forced a smile.

“Well, you've always been so busy, Caden. We barely see each other a few times a year, so it's natural you wouldn't know much about me.”

Caden pulled out a cigarette and lit it, the smoke shrouding his features.

While she was busy admiring him, her glass was filled to the brim yet again.

Tessa subtly shot a look at the server, but the server quickly turned away to collect empty bottles from the next table.
