She Turned Her Grief Into Wings novel Chapter 87

Inside the restaurant, Shera was discussing traditional textile arts with the man sitting across from her.

She had thought being forced into this would make for an agonizing conversation, but to her surprise, no matter what topic she brought up, the man effortlessly kept pace.

He even spoke fluently about traditional garments and had his own unique insights into the niche market.

He mentioned that his mother used to work in the field, so he had naturally absorbed more knowledge about it than most.

The two chatted enthusiastically, and Shera completely missed the screen lighting up in her purse.

Pearce raised his glass with a polite smile. "I only know a bit of the surface level. Compared to you, Ms. Denton, I'm completely out of my depth."

Shera raised hers in return. "Dr. Pembroke, you hit the nail on the head. You're being far too modest."

He replied, "To be honest, this is my first time doing one of these setups. I was quite nervous on the way here, but after chatting with you, I feel a lot more relaxed."

The man sitting across from her had a clean, handsome look. He spoke gently and politely, and his manners were impeccable—clearly reflecting a solid upbringing and good character.

Right off the bat, he had laid out his personal details like he was in an interview.

He worked in the Aurelia Hospital Cardiology Department, his parents were well, and his family was harmonious.

Truthfully, she felt he and Xenia would make a phenomenal match in both personality and looks.

But unfortunately, Xenia simply wasn't into this type. Shera sighed inwardly.

Figuring it was about time to wrap things up, she pulled out her phone to text Xenia, only to be met with a barrage of frantic emojis.

She casually sent back a question mark.

The man across from her smiled softly and asked cautiously, "Would it be alright if I got your contact info?"

Shera looked up, slightly stunned.

"No, it would not."

A deep voice came from behind her. Before Shera could even react, her phone was snatched out of her hand.

Pearce looked at the newcomer. "And you are?"

—

Shera was dragged out of the restaurant by Caden, his grip so tight she had absolutely no chance of breaking free.

Realizing things had gone terribly wrong, Aiken hurried after them. "Mr. Hayes, you..."

"Get out of the way!"

Caden roared, his face dark as thunder. Taking massive strides, he shoved Shera into the passenger seat, then got behind the wheel.

*Click.* The doors locked.

Shera's elbow banged against the center console. Wincing in pain, she shouted, "Are you out of your mind?!"

Blowing up at her without even bothering to get the facts straight.

Outside the car, Xenia frantically slammed her hands against the window and rattled the door handle.

Shera glared at him. "Open the door, Caden! Have you lost your mind?"
