She’s Done. He’s Breaking novel Chapter 28

**Chapter 28**

Tristan extended his hand, fingers brushing against the colorful wrapper as he accepted the candy from Noelle, a soft smile gracing his lips. “Thank you, Noelle,” he said, his voice warm yet measured.

Noelle beamed back at him, her little dimples deepening, giving her an innocent charm that made her look particularly sweet and well-behaved. “You’re welcome,” she chirped, her excitement palpable.

Natalia, with a twinkle in her eye, chimed in, “Tristan’s going to have a daughter too. Soon, Noelle will have a friend to play with!”

Tristan’s lips curled slightly, a hint of a smile flickering across his handsome features, yet his dark eyes remained largely devoid of emotion, betraying nothing of the turmoil beneath.

Noelle, her curiosity piqued, dashed over to Natalia, her small feet pattering against the floor. “Where’s the friend, Great-grandma?” she inquired, her voice filled with hope.

“She hasn’t been born yet, my dear,” Natalia replied gently, her hand affectionately patting Noelle’s head, as if to reassure her.

“When will she be born, then?” Noelle pressed, her eyes wide with anticipation.

“After New Year. You’ll have a friend to play with then,” Natalia assured her, her tone brightening the room.

“Does this mean I can celebrate the New Year with my friend?” Noelle asked eagerly, her excitement bubbling over.

“Yes!” Natalia responded with enthusiasm, her own joy evident in her voice.

Eloise watched the exchange, her eyes sparkling with fondness as she took in the sight of Noelle’s innocent exuberance.

“You’ll have a great-granddaughter too next year,” Natalia added, her voice filled with warmth.

“Yes. I’ll finally have one after all these years,” Eloise replied, her voice tinged with nostalgia and longing.

The atmosphere in the room was filled with a joyous harmony, laughter echoing lightly off the walls, wrapping everyone in a comforting embrace of family and love.

“You’re finally going to be a father soon,” Xavier remarked, a smile playing on his lips, his voice light and teasing.

Tristan maintained his slight smile, but a closer look revealed the cold indifference in his dark eyes, a stark contrast to the warmth surrounding him.

Suddenly, Kieran’s voice broke through the pleasant chatter, laced with an unexpected tension. “Why didn’t Tristan bring his wife with him for tonight’s dinner?” he asked, the question hanging in the air like an unwelcome specter.
