She’s Done. He’s Breaking novel Chapter 43

Chapter 43

Chapter 43

1/2-

When Lily and Freya noticed Tristan’s return, they immediately shifted the blame to Stella and Layla, washing their hands of all responsibilities.

They wore troubled looks as they complained, but suddenly felt a little uncertain when they noticed Tristan’s expression that had remained indifferent throughout the entire exchange.

“Where is she now?” Tristan asked, his voice devoid of emotion.

“She probably went back to her parents’ home,” Freya exclaimed heatedly. “She can’t handle even the tiniest bit of criticism. That temper of hers is out of control.”

“Call her,” Tristan ordered.

Meanwhile, in the hospital. The doctor had finished his check-up.

Stella had only experienced some contractions because of her heightened emotions. It wasn’t a serious issue, so she didn’t need any treatment.

After Stella calmed down, Layla suggested that they go back to Maven Manor. However, Stella

rejected her offer. Gary would just worry about her if they returned to the manor.

Layla didn’t insist, and the two of them stopped by a restaurant that served Sorelian food to have

dinner.

Stella had found out about the newly-opened restaurant when she was scrolling through her phone. The food was rather pricey, but she still wanted to have a taste. She had come to terms with many things in her life recently, which contributed to her expanding palate.

They had just ordered when they saw Hayden, who approached them when he spotted them.

“You’re having dinner here too, Professor Jenkins?” Stella asked.

“Yes. Justin actually owns this restaurant. He said he wanted to treat me to a meal, but he’s not here yet,” Hayden explained.

Stella never would have guessed that the restaurant belonged to Justin. “Do you want to sit with us, then?”

Hayden had no reason to reject her offer and, in the end, he got stood up by Justin.

Justin’s explanation was that while he was on the way to the restaurant, he received a call from his ex-girlfriend, who he had just broken up with. She refused to accept their break-up and threatened to end her own life by jumping off a building.

He had no other choice but to rush over to her place to assess the situation in case she really did anything drastic.

“Alright then. You should head over right now,” Hayden said before hanging up.

“Although she knew that he was a playboy, she still loved him with every fiber of her being,”

Stella said with a sigh.

“I agree that he’s a playboy, but he does treat his current girlfriend really well. It’s just that he switches to a new one a little too quickly,” Hayden said.

“Well, at least he doesn’t hide the fact that he’s a jerk,” Stella said with a smile.

Hayden ordered another two dishes. “Is there anything else on the menu that you want? Justin’s footing the bill for this meal anyway.”

“No. I’m fine with what we’ve ordered,” Stella said.

Just then, Stella received a call from the villa, but she swiftly hung up, guessing that it was probably Tristan telling her to go home. She also had no doubt that Lily and Freya had bombarded him with a barrage of complaints.

She didn’t want to deal with any of that at the moment, not wanting to lose her appetite.

Stella, Hayden, and Layla chatted with each other as they ate.

When Layla excused herself to use the restroom, Hayden said, “You should just rest at home if it’s inconvenient for you to drop by the university. We can figure out what to do after you give birth.”

“I’ll do that after finishing next week’s tasks. I don’t want to leave any of my work unfinished,” Stella replied.

A small but warm smile stretched across Hayden’s lips. “Okay. I’ll always be around the university in the mornings next week.”

Just then, two figures strode through the restaurant’s entrance.

Audrey immediately spotted Hayden. He was as handsome and refined as ever, and he had a gorgeously gentle smile playing on his lips.

She couldn’t help but clench her fists when she recalled how coldly and indifferently he had treated her in the past. A layer of ice frosted over her pretty eyes when she noticed the woman sitting opposite him.

Scott had also seen Hayden and Stella, but he didn’t approach them to greet them. “Let’s go,

Audrey.”
